Should I strip the interior?
I need a your input.
I have an F class 78' SC 911 that I use for DE. Right now I don't think I am going to pursue my club license to race it and the interior is really ratty looking.
As a winter project I was thinking of pulling the interior and freshening it up with an RS treatment. Does this make sense or should I leave alone just in case?

The only problem I see is that you'll never be able to sell it as a turn-key F class racer without first putting an interior back in it. If that doesn't bother you then go ahead and do it.

STRIP IT!
And paint it. To get it to PCA stock class legal you just need to add an RS carpet kit which is easy to do and costs about $400. Most of us in F and G are running an RS carpet kit to meet the PCA requirement.

You can put the RS carpet set in and run in F. You just need to have the bottom seat cushions in the car. The seat tops can come out for cage installation.
I think PCA needs to change this rule. All of the top cars that are in stock class are running thin carpet sets to abide by the rules-many using velcro. There might be a few cars that need weight, so they leave the interior stock--but not many.
Having to run the interior is a fire hazard. Removing it would not change the performance of our cars. I'm willing to bet that minus the dash my interior doesn't weigh 20 pounds.
I understand the intent of the stock class rules, when they were created. Street legal cars that you could race. We have moved way beyond that in stock classes. IMO we should be leading in the areas of safety, not waiting to see what the other sanctioning bodies are doing. What other club racing org. has a factory that builds hundreds of factory race cars every year?
All stock class cars should be required to run full cages.
Interior-excluding the dash-should be free.
Firewall should be sealed.
Just look at the pics in this thread. Having gutted doors(legal), but having to retain your carpet/headliner is ridiculous.

I love racing in PCA, I think that for the most part they do an excellent job.
Safety is not something that we should put on the back burner because it doesn't fit into the original intent of Stock Class.
A hit like this can happen to any car in any class.

yeah...strangely, one of my other suggestions is up for comment which is to be able to remove the headliner for proper cage install, but interior didn't make it. Just don't understand what we're hanging on to. The days of driving your totally stock car to the track and bolting in a roll bar to go racing are over. Safety should rule the day, not appearance of stock.

I just went to the PCA website and looked at the proposed rule changes.
http://www.pca.org/clubrace/docs/200...%20Comment.pdf
It looks like #19 is the headliner removal and #20 is the carpet removal.
We need to get everybody that feels strongly about this to voice their opinion.
Maybe we could attatch this thread and submit it.
