Anyone with CCW Classic, C14, C10 or Volk TE37's?
I have a 90 964. I plan to do a few events a year. My car gets driven rarely (I bicycle to work - GREAT for health & wallet - try it!!! ). I would like to buy wheels - 17 or 18" for my car that could handle track riding as well as some bumpy streets.
I called CCW. The "Classics" are about 2200 and "C14" is about 2700. I have searched on this forum and it seems everyone running CCW's is running Classics. Is this because they are 3 piece and cheaper? The CCW guys said the C14 is the way to go. Way stronger. But, they're a lot more $$$ and I'm not sure I like the look.
Volk TE37's were my original intention but it seems impossible to find them and I might have to run spacers vs. CCW's custom offset... I don't know.
Anyway if you could let me know your experiences, the "grapevine's" take on the differe CCW wheels, I would really appreciate it.
Also, please post pictures of your car with these wheels. I haven't seen a white 964 with CCW's and my Photoshop skills aren't quite up to par with the younger folks online.
Best Regards,

Donovan, there are a lot of guys running the Classics on the East coast. I have two sets. For me it was the low cost, the custom offset, the light weight and I really like the look of the black ones on my car.

Donovan - I run the black centered classics. I've seen the all-silver ones on cars and they look great but I like the ease of keeping mine clean. I use satin black Rustoleum to clean them..

My decision was easy. Black centered CCW classics that came on the car. Oh.... and Gary's cleaning method "spot on".

The C14's and C10's haven't been around that long, the Classics have been around for years and they are a good value which is why you see so many of them. If you call the guys at CCW they will tell you straight up that the C14 is a better wheel, it is stiffer and stronger. The nice thing about the 3-piece Classic is that you can change offsets or repair by replacing rim halves - you can't do that with a one piece wheel. So if you bend a rim and it can't be bent back you need to buy a new wheel. The guy I spoke to at CCW said that the C14 rims were a lot stronger because they are forged, machined, and heat treated while the Classic rims are spun form sheet aluminum and not heat treated. The single piece wheel is also stiffer than the bolted together 3-piece design. Makes sense to me. Even though the replacement cost is higher you are less likely to damage the one piece wheel. I think the C14/C10 is a superior wheel and worth $500 more per set.

That is my old car, and no, those wheels where forged BBS REs. The CCWs look very similar, tho' the finish quality of the BBSs is better (I did not much car for track wheels).
