Dude, you need to come and demonstrate this! No offense, but I have my doubts. I ran 2:05's with my street 996 GT3 on slicks (which I wish I never sold!). I know someone better than me could do better, but I would be in awe of a 2:00 in a street GT3! A pro driver did 2:05's with me in the car with him. I am sure he held back a little, but he sure was working hard! I would guess a 2:03, MAYBE 2:02 is achievable, but 2:00 flat? I need some instruction from you - seriously!
If you did a 2:05 in a 996 street car with 2 people, then a good driver in a 997 GT3 with a fresh pair of Michelins can do a 2 flat.
Wow a 9L motor, thats a 550 cube monster. To give a perspective, my 996 Turbo (with about 530 crank HP) was seeing 172 at the end of the back straight and 149 (radar gun) going into T1.

What cracks me up is that he enters the climbing esses 15 mph faster than me yet we have the SAME exit speed at the top of the esses heading out to Southbend!
The sound is great. That car is basically straight line speed and ***** of steel

Well I respecfully disagree. If a 996 will do a 2.05 with two people and probably not on fresh Michelins then a 997 with a great driver and fresh slicks and no pasenger will be 5 seconds faster at VIR.
In any event it will be closer to 2 flat than 2.03

Very cool!!!
This car looks to be along the lines of a GTO / Trans-Am car. Lap record for that class is 2:09 at Road America.

Nice video. Amazing to hear the difference between the SGS prepped Cup Car and a "stock" one.
Looks like you did a 2:02.50 or so in this lap. Can you give come feedback re how hard you were pushing vs. a qualifying lap and the condition of your tires.
I am only asking to get a reference for a "stellar" lap time vs. a great time vs a good time at VIR. I just drove my friends 2001 Cup Car last weekend and managed a 2.04.03. This was with slicks with about 15 heat cycles, the 01 gearset, and an engine that is down on power vs a "fresh" 01 engine by about 30 HP.
