Awesome drive Leh. Can't wait to get to the NNJR DE at VIR in November.

Leh:
Nice video. Amazing to hear the difference between the SGS prepped Cup Car and a "stock" one.
Looks like you did a 2:02.50 or so in this lap. Can you give come feedback re how hard you were pushing vs. a qualifying lap and the condition of your tires.
I am only asking to get a reference for a "stellar" lap time vs. a great time vs a good time at VIR. I just drove my friends 2001 Cup Car last weekend and managed a 2.04.03. This was with slicks with about 15 heat cycles, the 01 gearset, and an engine that is down on power vs a "fresh" 01 engine by about 30 HP.

see a couple of things that I will try next month!

Yeah, how about going into the climbing S's without lifting. My car feels unglued going over the hump if I do that, especially with the steering wheel turned. If I straighten the wheel it's not too bad, but I have to get the turn completed before going over otherwise I get thrown out of shape. Hmmm maybe some shocks with adjustable rebound would be the ticket.

Yeah, I "lift" before the hump or the car gets "un-balanced", rear end feels loose!
It may be the "dampers" ( we call em shocks), but the wing does add down force which helps keep the back end planted ! That engine over the rear axle probably helps, too!
Leh does set the car up before attacking that last section of the uphill esses, too! I'm gonna try that at 8/10ths next month!

the tires wernt brand new but were in good shape. Also there those peice of crap Hoosier tires for grand-am. So they do last long but have nowhere near the grip of a real slick (yokomama, Dunlop)
This lap was definaly not "kill mode" i go into before i qualify. This was the first day ever at the track and i was still figuring stuff out. I think this clip is from my 3rd session ever being on the track. the fastest time i did was a 2:01.9 wich was in my sencond session (new tires and cool weather). by the end of the day i felt i had it down. brakign at 1 marker on the back straight. and growing some big ***** for the 2nd set of esses. plus alot of other little stuff around the track. In Oct me and Cory are going for a 1:59 (cooler weather will help) . i will look at PCA times. but i feel i could prob do a 57 in the black car, maby lower. i will have to chek out the other PCA guys times.
2:04.0 on old tires is pretty dang good.

Chris, when do I get to drove your cup car there?
Kingleh, are you breathing the throttle before starting up the esses? Or are you flat from the lower esses all the way up? The reason I ask is because all the guys in this thread are talking about lifting in the middle of the esses at the hump. You couldn't pay me to do that there - especially in a 911. In my old 993 track car, I would breath it before starting up the hill. In the SRF I think I am flat all the way around the track. LOL! In all the other cars I have driven there, I have always breathed before venturing up the hill, not in the middle of it. Thanks.
