There is some amazing talent around here. Leh Keen and Michael Benet (who does not post much) have run some serious pro events. Benet used to run Indy Lights and was paid to do so (as I recall).

I suspect there are a dozen or more folks here who can run within 1-2 seconds of real pros. The difference is that the pros can do that lap after lap, week after week, with their jobs on the line.

Some of these pros have a lot of money behind them, like Leh or Constantine Loles - I believe that some people around here could be pros if they had the money to throw away.

How about the winnest PCA driver of all time? I'm sure he'll chime in. I'll let him toot his own horn. He's pretty quick out there.

Cory Friedman is also very fast.

At most PCA races, in my class the top 4-5 guys are all 1st place contenders.

I don't know if he posts here but Rafael Llopiz is fast also. We had a great run at Sebring this year. I won the sprint and he won the enduro (but only because I ran out of gas on the last lap.... )

I have never had a chance to co-drive with Leh or even drive in the same class, but I think he is at another level. Not the baby step level, as in "if I do this and that, then I will be as fast" level, but the big step level, as in "holy ****, I can't get there from here" level.

While I have not driven in these classes, I think some of the best drivers are in the slower classes.

Seth Thomas is like a clock. You just wind him up and watch him go.
Yeah yeah I couldn't resist

Hi Phil,

It's not quite that simple. There's more to it than money (of course, money doesn't hurt, does it ever?). I'd submit that one should not discount the natural physical abilities (raw talent if you will) that are required to excel - or even be consistently competitive - on a professional level, at any sport.

He may not post often but he does browse and is the best I have seen... Tom Bobbit...who is an amatuer. (Also past PCA President and all around good guy.) We also have another very fast driver in our area that is a Cup Car driver, Matt Callahan, very fast in his Sam Hornish Jr. Cup Car. (Also a gentlemen that you would enjoy meeting.)

Mike Levitas is a Pro, but god is he fast, my short list and I am sticking to it.

I have the honor of being on the track with these gentlemen on occasion at VIR, Summit Point, Mid Ohio and Watkins Glen.

I am going to go with Mika " Flyin Finn " here . He is a blast to watch . Too bad he can't go pro right now. I'd take him.

I have been impressed by Bob Rouleau, Ron Savenor, Jim Lewis and Rick Betterley.
All of which have been my (patient) mentors....

I say who ever wins the "race off" between Veloce Raptor and Gerbil Raper is king.

That would be Ron Savenor.

My list: Bob Scotto, Ron Savenor and Jeff Burger. All three would probaby win all the time in any other class...unfortunately, they are all in the same class!
