Has anyone used the GRM RPM pickup for their G2X system? Where did you pick up the rpm signal? I know it goes to the coil but my coil has a plastic covering and before I cut into it I wanted to know my best options here. How do I identify the right wire to clamp onto? Any insight out there?
Thanks,
Don

I have RPM on my G2X ('86 911). I did not install it but I thought it went to the tach. It is also hard wired in.
Don't forget to change the setup for 6 cylinders to get accurate readings.

You can get this by splicing directly into the wire from the DME to the tach - no fiddling needed. If you go to trackvision (www.trackvision.net), member (and president) Tony Kelly has the wiring pinouts as to which wire to splice into. I'm a 944 guy, but I'm pretty sure that the 911 instructions are there as well.

There was a cover over the coil that was much easier to remove that I first thought. Once I had the cover off the wire was easily seen. Now all I have to do is drill a small hole through the rear firewall and back to the + coil wire and I am good to go. I am attaching a picture of the inside of my car where I have the display mounted up by the lower left of my windshield and the G2X box on the knee back on the passenger side.

Oops...I may have spoken too soon...although I saw what I thought was the right way to hook it up, after speaking with Tim at Racepak today I think I better go back and regroup. The GMR pickup will not work with my single coil setup.
Matt mentioned tapping into the wire from the DME to the tach. I could not find the pinout diagram on trrackvisions website and they directed me to G2X website. I could also tap into the tach but I am not sure how to get to the tachand getting to the DME relay would be much easier for me.
Has anyone done this on a 911? Mine is an 88.
Thanks for the help...
