there was a stock viper that ran 1:38 at laguna with me 7 years ago. basically stock with hoosiers, 440rwhp with only an exhaust.
so, yes, a new Z06 would be like the new vipers with 500to520 hp. Again,T1 SCCA Vipers ran 1:38s too, and they weigh 3600lbs with driver!
so, you strip out a viper or new vet, and you have near WC speedGT, however, how are you going to get a cage in a new vet??? (aluminum chassis)
thats why most all C6vet race cars are made from C5s and have the CF bodykits on them.
as far as flying around the track, we all know what a stroker 928 can do at laguna too!! Bolt on some more stuff, still stock ECU, and Anderson is now running near 1:30 on slicks.(1:35 on DOTs on the old track)

not legal for most racing sanctioning bodies. especially speedGT.
however, i imagine it could be designed well. Not common, as nobody has done one yet! (as far as i know)

I didnt know that! by the way, there was only one of them, but i thought the cage was welded in somehow. (nsx is aluminum chassis?)
The rules have changed since then, to not allow bolt in roll cages or cross members. (i had a bar i used that they let me bolt in to satisfy the dual passenger side door bar, by 2004 they said it needed to be welded, but my car was too old and slow so they let it slide)
If it was so easy, the C6 folks would just put a car in WCGT, instead, they have to use the C5 chassis and do the total C6 CF body kit.

yeah the nsx is completely aluminum. There is a huge difference between a bolt-together cage and a bolted in cage. As long as the mounting plates are big enuf you can bolt them into the car and they'll be just as strong. The cage its self has to be 1 piece. Not like yours (or atleast how yours used to be?) where you had door bars and sections of the cage you could unbolt and remove.
I suspect there are other reasons they don't run the C6R chassis. Maybe chevy isn't making a C6R chassis for "public" use yet?

I was talking about the street C6. the C6R is a tubed frame version of a C6, with very little stock chassis left. The C6 is what would needed to be used for a speed GT race car, but they use the C5 tub first.
my cage has never been a bolt in, however, it at one time had removable top door bars, now just one of the passenger door bars is removable so i can get the passenger seat in and out (and that full set of tires and wheels )

Looks like i found an issue that might be the reason i could barely get passed Scot.
Just did a dyno run. 297rwhp. (3 runs 290, 293 and 297)
Now, im pulling my hair out to find the missing 20hp, yet it might just be the old dog is tired!
it is 6 seasons old, plus that engine has not been disassembled since it was made near your 10 year
birthday in 1986
