C2 vs. C4S for Track Use

C2 vs. C4S for Track Use
If someone gave you a choice between a STOCK 996 C2 and a 996 C4S (or even the choice between a STOCK 997C2S and a 997 C4S), which would you choose for track use only (and I mean for all conditions, not just rainy days)?
Price is not a consideration, since you would get the car for free. The only choice is platform.
Which car do you think would make a better choice for track use only and why?
Which platform (i.e., C2 vs. C4S) would turn quicker average laptimes?
Thanks

Same driver, those 2 cars, stock form, C2 kicks the crap out of the C4S. However, the C4S is one beauty of a machine and I'd probably take that over the C2 if I also used it as my DD.
Since your ? is for track use only......C2.
C4S negatives? Horrible understeer push, weight, PSM.

the c2 is lighter and more fun to drive. the c4 will hide/correct for drivers mistakes such as being to aggressive with the gas. the 4 is heavier and understeers more. both c2 and c4 can run similar times if driven differently. the c4 gives up a little on corner entry speed but allows for being earlier on the throttle as the torque is sent ot all 4 wheels.
all in all the c2 is more fun to drive and a better choice for learning.

This is a subject that comes up repeatedly in the 996 forum . . . https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...wpost&t=365857
As a caveat, personally, for a dual use car, I think someone should buy the one they like, because for most drivers, they can have fun in either car. You know, buy the one you like more.
That said, whenever the subject comes up, you get people who say that the "upgraded" suspension, brakes and AWD of the C4S make it SIGNIFICANTLY better on the track, which is baffling to me.
When I try to point out that the brakes on the C2 are not deficient, and thus the turbo brakes on a n/a car just add unnecessary weight, and that the AWD is unnecessary, heavy and leads to understeer, someone ALWAYS posts this stupid list of ring times where the time for the 996 C4S is faster than the time for the 996 C2. The list doesn't say whether the C2 was 99-01 or 02+ (as is the C4S), track conditions, or drivers. It is just crazy.
So, I thought I would post it here in the forum where people do actually track just to see what you guys would say.
I sorta knew the answer I would get, but still . . .

Next related question . . . would you GT3 and GT2 owners prefer it if your cars were AWD?
Is the ONLY reason why the GT3 and GT2 do not have awd is related to homologation issues rather than performance issues?

I'd put it like this,
If FIA or some other homologation organisation told car manufacturers - shoot, you can build the car however you want. They'd all be AWD. By saying AWD, I DON'T mean the ordinary AWD that we have today in normal cars, but rather more like the one you see in WRC.
Problem with GT3/2 today is that those cars are way too heavy already.

We are not talking about whether a theoretical AWD platform might be developed that is superior to the theoretical counterpart in RWD version.

AWD plattform in C4 is not up for the challenge to be superior to the RWD (Not even near..)
So, C2 with LSD all the way..
