There is misinformation here, the SHC is rebranded Delvac, and when it was SHC, you could buy it here in the US.

that's not misinformation Geoff. if you want SHC then you need to buy the replacement Delvac. I never said you can't buy it here prior to being replaced. Remember, those lads across the pond get all kinds of stuff that we don't.

**I realize it is a relabel type of situation but as far as buying it, you can't buy SHC as it was labled**

I thought the Porsche Motorsports recommendation to use SHC/Delvac only applies to transmissions with steel/molybdenum synchronizer rings? (i.e. 996 cup and not the regular GT3) For brass syncros they (PAG) recommend Mobilube PTX and Shell Transaxle (TSB - Approved Transmission Oils). And for whatever is used in the 993 GT2 they recommend Veedol SAF 44. I'm working this weekend but when I get home on Sunday night I will dig through my stuff (unless somebody else knows it) looking for some documentation on the original factory fill for the 964/993.

The syncronizers themselves are less than $100USD but the labor charge will probably kill you unless you DIY. And if you swap your G64.20 for a G50.31 you will lose the 4wd.

Yes Kevin it 's me, Andy and I had a good time at Gingerman. I place 9th overall and 4th in class for the sprint and enduro. Not bad for my fisrt race in 13yrs and first race in the cup car. We are going to Putnam next weekend then Road America in Sept. Are you going to make Road America?

I read through some of the 993 posts and it sounds like this is a common problem with the 2nd and 3rd gear synchros.

What I truely don't understand is how 10 year old transmission fluid from the factory can shift better then brand new fluid. Truely a mystery fill.

Gingerman was a blast. I finished 12th in both races. Not bad I guess for my 1st race in the Cup and 1st race of the season. It could have definitely been better though. I was 9th in the sprint at the half way point but couldn't hold anybody off as my tires seemed to go away quickly. I was running Yokohamas and the last 3rd of the race the car was a handfull. There rear end was all over the place.

Well, my trans rebuild is done, and I need to fill it with something. We have the same synchro parts as you have in your 915 units (in our 78-84 boxes for the 928) - I know they get finicky with temps, and need a certain slipperyness.

Should I break in with Swepco or start with a good (but not too slippery) synthetic?

Good stuff...sounds like you boys are having fun.

Hey Andy, glad to hear you and the car made it in one piece. So what do you think about the Cup car?

Please switch to Michelins by the time of the RA race, Yokes will be scary in the Kink!
