From the photos, it doesnt appear that side to side theres much helpful camber. Is that again a perspective thing, or are the corners relatively flat?

Default It is 5 o'clock somewhere

The final coat of asphalt has been laid on Thunderbolt, Lightning and the F1 Karting circuit. One of the karting tracks looks like the Pocono tri-oval but its not, so it was named Poconot. I know someone who has driven over 140 mph on Lightning and over 130 mph on Thunderbolt with street tires. The 125cc karts achieve about 100mph on the kart track.

Everything is on schedule to open next Saturday (July 5th). I’ve posted lots of pictures of the track, so here is one of the bar!

Sure looks like the bar at VIR.

Right there's the most important room at the entire facility.

Be there in two weeks (7/11-7/13).

http://www.peterkrause.net/Krause_&_...orts_Park.html

Neat writeup authored by Peter Krause, who consulted for the track on final placement of curbing. They used a Mustang street car to help verify curb location on Thunderbolt, and he says they saw 130mph twice a lap.

His video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_6T7CzShJw

Thanks for sharing that, Brandon! That's the first in-car video of Lightning that I have seen.

Maybe I'm off base, but couldn't they have made those bridge abutments on both further apart or somewhere else considering how much space they had to work with.... It just seems like they are inviting someone to hit them.

Other than that the tracks both look realy fun.

I was thinking that, too, but on further inspection notice how the walls are angled toward the underpass. You wouldn't hit this perpendicular, it's a nice design in that you'd swipe them instead.

I walked the track, and the underpass looks tight when you are far away but as you come up to it there is plenty of room and is angled.

I'm wasn't realy concerned to much about a severe hit since it is nicely angled, I was more concerned with just an impact period. The less things to hit the better and no matter how wide it looks, when the grass gets slippery, or the cars start flying left and right it becomes pretty tight. Normally I wouldn't think of it as much of an issue, but when you start out with a large clear field, I don't see why they couldn't have spaced them further apart.

Forgive me for gloating but man is it sweet not to have to ask that question! Seriously, have no idea what's down there, Millville has not heretofore exactly been a vacation or business destination...

Just dropping Aug 2/3 member day reservation in the mail right now.
