Fox also must have spent all their energy on the Nascar pre race coverage as there was little to none on the CGP race as is on Speed TV. I like the information and technical discussions pre race like Nascar(Fox) or F1 on Speed. It is a must in F1 IMHO...in order to stay up on it. Fox spends hours for Nascar but 2 minutes for F1 for pre race coverage. Bad picture too.
IMO the CGP race was a set up for the USGP. If you noticed they were good at giving info that is basic knowledge to us who watch F1 on Speed for those new watching on Fox. I got the feeling it was planned to increase the viewing on Fox and the past fiasco at Indy was a set back for F1 so I can see why the CGP race was aired 1st, just before the US race. All makes good biz but Fox needs to keep pace with Speed TV coverage.

It will be like a bad tivo set up, tune to fox at 1PM and your see the lights dropping and "Turn up the volume" and at the end the TV will cut off as the checkered flag drops (if we are lucky)

You could tell that the speed team was giving alot more basic info during the CGP. I didn't mind though. They have a way of communicating that is entertaining.
I am really dissapointed that it wasn't in HD. F1 is supposed to be the cutting edge of technology and watching a square image is very old fashioned.

Is the world feed (FIA contolled) in HD to begin with? Maybe that's why (whether on Speed, Fox or cbs) it isn't broadcast as such?
I never checked, but did "speed" have any Montreal Pre-race coverage before the fox broadcast. I like watching Peter Windsor walk the staging area and bump into people while his camera man seems to get lost
The only things interesting about Derek Daly that I could remember was his nick name for "gianni lavaggi" (maybe Lotus F1 in early 1990s) - "Johnny Car Wash", cause he went off course so much and his article in, R&T(?) about his chance to drive a modern F1 car (maybe 2-3 years ago - it was a Jordan, when did they disband?) and how overwhelmed he was by both the performance and all the computer/telemetry crap vs his days in racing.
