Default Cordless impact wrench

As many times as I find myself taking my wheels on and off I need some help. I have been lusting after a cordless impact wrench. My only concern is that I have heard that for many models you need to loosen the lugnuts first and they will then take them off the rest of the way. I am looking for one that will take them off without loosening first. Anybody have a model that has worked well for this?

Thanks,
rickdm

Sears 180 ft lbs; loosens and removes lug nuts even if I fogot to loosen them before lifting the car.
Which is why I bought it.

Pep Boys (are they national?) sells a "Good Year Racing" branded one for $69-99, depending on the sale you catch. I've had mine for so long now that if it breaks it was still a great deal. I don't know what it's rated at, but I use a torque stick so it puts them on at 90 foot pounds. It's never had a problem getting them off. Lots of wheel changes.

At that price, you can treat it as a disposable.

+1 Sears and I'm no longer a sears tool fan. But this one works great!

Just got the Longacre gun 2 months ago...It is my favorite tool. Loosens lug nuts effortlessly.

With the Sears model @ 180 ft lbs - does it OVERtorque the lugnuts when putting them on? Or do you not put them full tight and then use a torque wrench after?

I have a Dewalt 18v that works great and breaks the lug buts loose with no issue. About 2 track days per battery (per charge). The new sears unit seems very nice, powerful, quiet, and variable speed.

I have a dewalt. works very well. But I just used a Snap On recently and it was way nicer (mostly because it was way lighter).

I have had the Milwaukee for 3 years with good luck. While it will loosen the nuts it eats the battery quicker so I usually break them first. It sells for $300 or so with 2 batteries, a case and charger. At that price, you might want to try one of those Goodyears first.

Another vote for the goodyear from pep boys. Its rated at 170 ft lbs, and it can actually break the lugs loose unlike the harbor cordless sitting in the garage. Ive had mine for ~2 years now, and it still works great! For the money its hard to beat.

Rick,

I have the 18v DeWalt too. You're welcome to use it anytime we're at the same place. Just drop by the garage.
