Shock Dyno tests
I had one done, but have no idea how to interpret the news. I was trying to make sure I did not get into the same fiasco a fellow 928 racer (open road) had at various points in his travails with the same shocks.
Here is my thread:

Any comments appreciated. I did not know the test I had done is only one option. I supposed the speed of compression is important, but I just realized that now, after I have already paid my money and recieved the shocks back from Pro Parts in Canoga Park.

Well, I'm certainly no expert. What I know is simply through discussions with one of my best friends who does all the programming for one of the top shock dyno manufacturers in the world (he even got a call from Ross Brawn - yeah that Ross Brawn). From all the discussions I've had with Doug, velocity is way more important than displacement.

OKay. Well, then I guess I wasted 116 dollars then. Off to Bilstein in Poway.

I am late to this party, but as others have said, you need force vs. velocity from the shock dyno. Shock valving responds to fluid viscosity which equates to shock speed. In general, shock forces are the same regardless of shaft position, with the exception of internal stops and the compression of Nitrogen due to shaft displacement.

Thanks Mark. The plan is to go to Bilstein today and see if they will look at the konis.

I just called Bilstein Geo, and I would appreciate your assistance now, as they said that they will not test my Konis. Maybe I should have just paidz my moneyz and gotten bilsteins.

OK, I'll get a hold of Doug. I can't promise a quick answer, but in the next couple of days at least I should have one. If he was still at the operation in NC he would probably have it today, but since he's a programmer he can work from anywhere and anywhere is middle of nowhere Wyoming. So, e-mails will be exchanged.

Try asking for locations on the forums on the Roehrig site...the Roehrig guys seem to be quite helpful:
