Default Hotel for Laguna

I am doing my first event at Laguna. Any recommendations for a hotel?

Thanks

FWIW, a group of us stayed here last year when we all few in to do the 3 day Skippy School:

Clean, good food, 10 minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf, short drive to LS, reasonably priced with AAA discount.

I was there week before last, and stayed at the Cypress Tree Inn (2227 N. Fremont St., Monterey, CA 93940 - 831 372 7586). $55/night for two queen beds. It's modest, but it's got a hot tub, a bakery with coffee right next door, and it's only 5 miles from the track.

I think the best part was that our group of racers were the only guests -- which meant less guilt when we fired up the cars at 6 am.

Embassy Suites in Seaside is one of Skippy's "preferred" hotels. Great rates, free breakfast, short drive to LS. I wouldn't say it's 5-star, but it's clean, comfortable, and the staff were incredibly friendly.

Default Hotel Suggestion for Laguna

Nice resort hotel is Carmel Valley Ranch www.carmelvalleyranch.com Large townhouse style rooms with living rooms, fireplaces, wet bar, jacuzzis. Nice break from the traditional rooms. Just over the hill from the track (about 15 minutes). Specials run frequently and the price difference isn't much over a standard room.

How about someplace on the Monterey side of the track with good trailer parking and below $100? Our club usually stays at the Laurel Inn in Salinas but the morning traffic on 68 is a PITA. The Way Station by the airport is fine, but there is no place at all for trailers.

Under a $100 is tough in Monterey no matter where you go. You can try the Holiday Inn Express next to the Embassy Suites...maybe parking trailers in the ES parking lot since it's much larger. I don't know how nice (or not nice) the hotel is nor do I know about it's pricing.

I stayed there for the GP (that's MotoGP) year before last. Very nice accomodations, and secure parking too. Plus the drive over the mountain to the track (in an '80 Targa as a mater of fact) was pretty good. If you can pop for the scratch, it's worth it. We had 4 people in the one we had.

There are a couple of hotels off Fremont Blvd that are more like Seaside, and are under $100. best western types of hotels. still a short drive to the track. a little closer than the Embassy Suites.

Hotel row in monterey has a ton of hotels all on Munras st (sp?) all travel lodge types. many under $100.
