Question Places to stay at Road Atlanta

Where are good places to stay for the Road Atlanta Club Race? I saw the Chateau Elan, and that might be good if my wife wants to come with. Otherwise, where are the places to stay.

Larry:

I stay at the Springhill Suites in Buford. It's across the street from Mall of Georgia with an abundance of restaurants and shopping, if your wife comes with you. It's about 25 minutes to the track. I also recommend Ted's Montana Grill for great steaks and burgers (Ted as in Ted Turner).

Larry, the Holiday Inn is very close. Nice place and reasonably priced. Right across the street from the Chateau. Five minutes to the track. Strongly recommend staying here if possible because of proximity to track.

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn in Buford the last few times I've been out to RA. It's newer & nicer than the one across the street from Chateau Elan, near the Mall of Georgia and about a 25 min drive to the track.

If you don't mind the expense, or are bringing the wife then Chateau Elan can't be beat. The first time I stayed there, the Inn was full so they upgraded me to the Spa. I had my own split-level loft, very nice.

But for mere mortals:

I always stay North of the track in Oakwood (Comfort Inn), it's about a 7 minute drive to the track. There are 3 or 4 hotels there, that's were us cheap front engine drivers stay

Larry, if it were any other weekend behind besides the weekend of the Final 4, I could get you a terrific "Rennlist" rate (wink) at my hotel, the Grand Hyatt Buckhead (http://grandatlanta.hyatt.com). My only suggestion is to book early because stuff is gonna start filling up quicker than you'd think. With an occation like this, there can often be compression all the way out towards Braselton.

I scanned in a list of hotels that I got from the Panoz Racing School. Not sure how old it is, but it might help.

And us guys who now have to pay $2K for a set of exploding Michelin tires will have to stay.

Mike are you running the "blue" slicks or the "yellow" ones at Atlanta? Was told that the blue ones are now for IMSA only so I bought three sets for Sebring hoping to have one left for Atlanta.

I usually stay in Oakwood, cheap, track is close, and a few decent restaurants nearby. When the wife would come with me it was the Chateau Elan or something in Buford.

I'm running little Hoosiers in "E" class at Sebring and Atlanta, as I'm between cup cars.

When my 997 GT3 cup comes in I think I will be trying Yoko slicks, the Michelin$ prices are out of control and I am not convinced they are safe yet.

Default Hotel

We have stayed at the comfort Inn but for the past couple of years we had used the Jameson Inn at Oakwood. Both not very expensive.

The Holiday Inn Express is booked, though I imagine all the big deals on this board will be staying at the Chateau Elan
