VIR Race on Speedvision
Everyone with a soul should tune in to Speedvision at 8PM EST tonight. Rolex 500 mile race @ VIR.
VIR is a wonderful track. Many of the pros know this, and more amateurs are learning.
I cant wait to be humbled as I compare my 2:09 best time to these monsters......

Chris, You would have turned a 2:12 that weekend unless you know something about mud the racers do not. There was some mid day practice for the SRP that were breaking 2:00. I think that PCA race, held at the same weeekend, may have been a record. 25% of the field (group 1 GT-1-D stock) out due to incidents from practice through race day.
Exciting track and way too exciting weekend.

The Doran/Lista car turned a 1:39 for a track record that weekend.
The 996 GT3RS were all well below the 2 minute mark.

The Ferrari may have won the race, but the best part was watching Bill Auberlin get his rental Town Car stuck in the mud and then seeing him role around in the mud in his Ferrari driving suit.

What was the story on Christine Perot in the #67 Racer's Group car? They showed a spin entering Turn 4 that appeared to be caused by the left rear upright collapsing. However, the car already appeared to have front-end (missing headlight) and rear-end damage, so I'm assuming something else happened prior to this.
It seemed like a race of attrition with even the winning cars having been off track at some point. The lucky ones were able to get back on the track under their own power. The rest had to get towed and went down a number of laps as a result.
I hope the weather is better at VIR this coming weekend.

Karl, You have had enough track time at VIR. Time to set your sights on the Club Race at Summit Point in 3 weeks!
One Club Race is worth 15 DE's (and I know you have fun at DE's) Who said that? Greg Fishman I think... <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Bill,
I'm not sure that 3 weeks is enough time to get everything done, since this would be my first Club race. Don't I need to do a bunch of paperwork, get a physical, etc.?

Fax the docs to Susan Shire. You can have your ticket in a week. Physical is needed but if you don't mind a trip to Annapolis we can get it done in two days for scheduling. Time in the docs office is about 2 hours max. Most of that is filling out your history.
The recommendations can be done by email.
Go for it Karl!

Justin,
See Billy rolling in the mud would have been worth the price of admission, but I would have loved to see Cort (being the dedicated co-driver he is) helping by pushing from the rear! The two of them are doing great in the Ferrari, but I enjoy them both driving head to head in Porsches. Cort won the Grand Am Stock race earlier in weekend with car owner/driver Brent Martini in a Porsche.

Christine Perot is a member of the Riesentoter Region-PCA She has a Green Ruf RGT.
She was at the July NNJR Pocono DE event.
I understand that she has bought a seat with the Kevin Buckler's Racers Group team. She drives the #67 car which finished 8th in the GT class at the recent race at VIR. I understand that she is very good driver.
