I have run MSPC in a 2700# car and didn't like them at all. Ran Hoosier R6 in a 3000# car and loved them. I have run Toyo RA1's on both and found they are consistent, come up to temp quickly and they last forever! I ran a well worn 4 year old set in the Club (Monsoon) Race at Summit this past year, and they performed extremely well. I am hoping Santa is doing a late delivery of Hoosier Wets though. I have heard good things about the Nitto's, and Avon for a lighter car.

Info from TOYO since I've worked with them on few projects. NT-01 = same compound as current RA1. Moulded to 6/32" so no need to shaved (unless you want max performance). It also has different thread pattern, and really wide blocks. So it is definetely improved over RA1. Trampio 888R is going to replace RA1 in 2007, although I'm not sure if completely... since there are lot of racing series using RA1. Such and World Challenge and several NASA classes.

I'll be curious to see what Toyo does with the RA1's since they're the spec tire for both SFR Regional and National SM SCCA racing.

Yes. Sizing is limited. Too bad. Nitto engineer told me that were planning on putting out 255/40/17 late 4th qtr 06, ..apparently not.

I can't find the 235/40/18s. Anyone know where to get them? They're not listed at the Tire Rack.

Nah, they don't list the 235 either. I guess that I'll call my Tire Rack rep on Monday.

Oh Larry,

I noticed you had a GT3 track car. I'd like to get your opinion.

Think the 315/30s NT-01s would be a better fit then 305/35 shaved RA-1s?

Based upon the MFGs specs, both the 305 Toyo and the 315 Nitto are within fractions of being the same width, but the diameter is .7" smaller on the Nittos. I think that the Nitto tires could still be faster right out of the box than the shaved Toyos, and the smaller diameter of the Nittos will give you a little better accelleration, like a GT3 needs that! You'll just have to take a chance and try them. I may get a set for my son's 951. I'm tired of him wearing out my Hoosiers!

I used to run 225 front and 265 rear on my 18's and with the Nittos I'm running 245 front and 275 rear, and they are VERY close - no problems for fitment

Great thread....keep the reviews coming!

Currently in the market for tires for my GT3 and don't think I want the MPSC and these sound like the winner. Probably go with the 245/315 combo.

Maybe my question can be answered here as opposed to the thread I started. Will this size combo work on our OEM wheels?

According to the Nitto Website:
Looks like 245/40/18 is for a rim size 8"-9.5" with an optimal rim of 8.5" so we should be great on the 8.5" factory rim

and the 315/30/18 is for a rim size 10.5"-11.5" with the optimal rim of 11" so we should be great on the 11" factory rim
