Boyd, glad to hear that. One way or another, you will be able to stretch those CaymanS legs. Looking forward to seeing you at Sebring.

Hey guys, Super Solo was excellent at Homestead. Thanks to everyone who made it happen. Can we start a new thread to discuss the safety equipment needed at Winterfest? I can't wait to do it again and I want to be sure my car is ready!

Jerry,
Thanks for your support. That's a good idea about starting a new thread for SuperSolo. We'll start one as soon as a comprehensive list is compiled. That is being worked on as we speak.
In the meantime, I will be sending out an email to each of the SuperSolo drivers at Homestead, so look for it please.

Bob: Could you elaborate on the number requirements for supersolo at Winterfest. Are numbers in addition to official pboc numbers required? What about the "permanent" numbers on four sides of the car.
Thanks again.

Jack, first of all thanks for your help at Homestead.
The numbers are assigned and they are "permenant" in that you keep the same numbers. You simply request the number from Joanne directly (or online at www.pbocflorida.com) in the 100 series (e.g., 144). If it's not already being used by someone else, you get 144. This will be the same number that will be on your passport which stays with you and the car.
As is typical with PBOC, at track registration you receive your packet which contains information, schedule, etc. as well as decal numbers. These numbers typically can change from event to event, but in the past as you know 100 series was for instructors, 200 for solos, 300 for advanced students and 400 for novice students.
Now, 100's are strictly for SuperSolos, 200's are for instructors who don't want to run in SuperSolo plus regular solo drivers. So if you were to request, say, 144 and the number wasn't assigned to someone else, you would get that number and it's yours for each event.
I hope this clarifies it...

Jack, you're very welcome. Just as I thought the numbering "scheme" was set, apparently for Winterfest, the numbering scheme looks different. As I have said before, things are likely to change. I just got the packet from Joanne and it looks as though the numbers are as follows:
100's = SuperSolo
200's = Instructors
300's = (regular) Solos
400's = Advanced and intermediate students.
I'm not really sure why this is the case; perhaps no novice students will be driving on Thursday and Friday, etc. But I really don't know. But at the end of the day, it's only a number, so we'll deal with it as needed.
BTW, Happy New Year to all.

Happy New Year: So we should let Joanne take care of all numbers for winterfest?

Those super solo folk seeking a two layer driving suit might consider the Simpson STD 19 from Skillman Racing Mart @ 800-736-6537 or skillmanracingparts.com. The suit fits well, seems well constructed and is clearance priced at $225. No affiliation blah blah blah.
