May I also second John Gordon's comments about POC, but also add the following.
I started out my track/racing career 4 years ago with a high HP car at the big track at Willow. I used to vigorously defend this approach to others who suggested the smaller track and a "momentum car" would teach me more. I had lots of arguments why they were wrong. Boy, did it ever turn out that I was the wrong one!!!
It took me a few years to learn what I should and could have learned in the first year at a track like the Streets with a group like POC. Bottom line is I highly recommend you avoid making the mistakes I made. Get some great instruction. Take your time. Don't be in a hurry to get on the big track. It is NOT a great track on which to learn car control. Nubies like it because you can go really fast, a new sensation that produces lots of adenalin! But, you'll go plenty fast at the Streets. And if you master the Streets (like Kevin and John), you'll go even faster at the big track than you would have otherwise. Join POC --you have a Porsche --none of the other brand or multi-brand Clubs can give you the experience you'll get at POC. Sorry to offend someone here, but I found taking a Porsche to Alfa Club at the big track to be a complete disaster.
One other thing --San Diego PCA runs a very nice High Performance Driving School 2X per year. It's very well run --you'll pick up some great instruction, have a very fun weekend (starting with a Friday night Classroom session and ending with an Autocross on Sunday), and the price is right!

),I've been with AROSC for years ...absolutely a superb group of enthusiasts and friends there! How often you run with them? Let me know the next time out ...maybe we can hook up at the track. I'm only a timetrialer, but am thinking of doing the Streets clinic in Feb just because I've been track-deprived for a few months now. BTW, keep that praise down for AROSC, will ya ...it's been a fairly well-kept secret for some time now.

I think all of the comments in here are great and I can't wait until I get the chance to actually chose a club to start with...It seems that the POC. PCA sounds good too due to the location in comparison to where we plan on moving, Temecula. I'll keep up on what's going on and hopefully meet you soon. Better than that, I hope my wife meets you guys and wants to get in on the action....AT THE TRACK FELLAS...If she's hooked I'm in like Flynn. She has expressed the interest so I've got the advantage over the house. I expect to be over there in the new year...

I've been driving with various So. Cal clubs and organizations for the last 4 years, and IMHO no other club, that I've experienced, runs a tighter, safer ship than the folks at POC. Hope to see you at a future event ....
