CHarlie Slater had a 66 bus redone at fabcar with tube chassis and porsche 993 running gear. it was fantastic , not sure it would run like that at spa

I knew a development engineer at GM who did this for GM "show" cars, put corvette platforms under "van" exteriors with vette driveline, it was pretty cool stuff.

Porsche would often test engines and powertrains for the 911 in VW buses on the autobahn. During a tour of the Weissach test facility in 1984, I drifted away from the group as we past through the main workshop. There on a lift was a VW bus with full 911 powertrain. I asked one of the engineers about it and he said it offered a great opportunity to test the engine and gather data on the autobahn. The center portion of the bus was filled with data acquisition and recording equipment. As the size of the equipment has grown significantly smaller over the years, it's no longer necessary to test using the bus.
