Thanks Larry. Not sure what I'm going to do next year but I'll figure something out. I might just race my car as is and wait out the 2008 rules. Or I might pull off the X51 package and stay in C. The 3.6L actually has a much better torque curve. It just might be a better race engine than the X51. Or I might add brakes, etc and go chase the NASA GTS4 national title. I'm sure we'll cross paths somewhere along the line.

As best I can tell, there are a grand total of 4 993 RSCSs being run in the whole country. They did not win at Lime Rock, Mid Ohio, Watkins Glen, Mosport or Summit Point. Heck, even Larry beat all the RSCSs at Watkins Glen, which is a power track (I too ran faster times in my lowly D car). So I don't think this is some unstoppable force.
All power packages were an oversight in the rules. IMHO, a person should not have to add a power package to be competitive. Should the 993 RSCSs be in C? Heck no...they should get bumped or put in a new class. But 2 wrongs (X51s & RSCSs in C) don't make a right. When I wrote the draft rule, I had never even seen nor run against a 993RSCS, so I was not attempting to banish X51s and leave the class to the ultra rare cars. Next year I will submit another rule on a specific calass for low volume cars like the 964RSs, 964 Rs 3.8s, 964 USA Cups w/interior, 993 RSCSs, and GT3 Mk1s. Either that or create a D+ and a C+ class.

I would allow conversions of cars. Someone with a RSA should be able to convert to a USA Cup spec car by doing a certain number of required changes. It would not be that hard to come up with a list (with part numbers) of the required changes. Things like light glass should not be required.

One of the issues is that if you added another class or two between the current B thru D cars is that at many races you might only have one or two cars in your class. What fun would that be, I liked being able to beat cars that should have been faster. The Euro cars like the 993RS or 964 RS could be a non issue if PCA allowed your stock 993 or 964 to run at the euro weight as a prepared mod.

Greg is right about the size of the fields but they should grow over time.
