Fwiw, I think it is kind of sad that all podium finishers didn't get something. It was a great inaugural event and it is hard to get on any PCA podium. A trinket is always nice to have to display on one's bookshelf or whatever.

Maybe I shoulda started a thread but..
I coulndt agree with you more Regarding Podium Trinkets. At the past CR at Summit, Dirk Dekker said the PCA is really cracking down and doesnt want to give out any awards. Why ???

Does the PCA really think things will get so way out of control if we are racing for a medal?? A $10 momento would really be nice recognition.

Also Stupid Question, how do you quote someone in a post??

Uhh, last time I looked it was already way out of control. $20,000 rent-a-rides, $125,000 racecars, $1M transporters, racers driving across the country for every race. I can't see where a $30 trophy could make things any more intense.

But it is a nice hat

I do think that some form of trinket should be required. I had no issue with the hat, but would have been nice to see my fellow podium finishers get one too.

At no point during a race am I thinking about some trophy...I'm just trying to catch the guy in front of me. But when I leave, it is nice to have a memento of the race. And most racers rarely even get on the podium. When they do, I'll bet they'd like a little something to remember it by.

I'd have driven harder if I knew that I was getting a hat.

But you are right. I still have the Checkered flag trophy for the 1996 Mid-Ohio race sitting on my desk. It means a lot.

Alright, so who do we petition? Between the 3 of you guys, I'm sure you know someone at the PCA.

While we are at it, mine as well try to get a second Sprint Race added to our events, like we did at Summit Pt this year. Ron started a thread re that.

Rich, they are protecting your amatuer status! Just wait until these hat guys are declared pros!

For quoting, look at the lower right corner of each post, and you will see quotation marks. Click on these and you will have a quote of that particular post in your next post.

Daytona was $6744.26, Road Atlanta last year was 25k$( includes damage to car, motorhome, unlocking fee, transportation costs and entry fee, plus 13 for my 13). In fact how I keep score is the costs plus or minus a 13, if you are in an incident but are not awarded the 13 You get to subtract 13 from Your damage,,,,kind of like golf....

I saw one of our national officers at Daytona. They were going to bring this up already. They posts on Rennlist, so can speak up if they wants to.

I agree. Heck just a little something to remember the experince by and to remind you how well you did. Kind of sad to spend all that time and money for Nothing at all. At least NASA has little trinkets for podium spots. Kind of make is you feel like you accomplished something and have some thing to show for it. I'd agree to keep high dollar stuff out of the picture, but a $5 trinket is not asking to much.

5 years racing a porsche 928.
1:39.0 at laguna, 1:47.9 at Sears (Infinion)

Tires for free or $20 each from World Challenge GT events
gas and entry fee. Sometimes 1/2 of a $120 hotel bill.
75 race days!

No DNFs, all 1st -4th finishes, always driven to and from the track.

Now thats bang for the buck. I think porsche would have sold more 928s if they sold the cars on the optional after-life of the expensive cruiser!
