Default 996 on a Diet

Hello Racers!

I was just wondering if any of you would help me with some suggestions on how to effectively lose weight in my 996 but still be legal in the C class? I don't need suggestions on suspension modifications or how to set up my car, but I would surely appreciate any help with how to get my car's weight (3,130 lbs) down for club racing. Thanks all.

What is in your interior?. Is it stripped down? I would take all the speakers out, but leave grills in so it appears stock, remove all sound deadening. Maybe remove all carpet and then recarpet with light carpet with no insulation. Seat belt reels are very heavy. Exhaust? Cats? still in the car?
Remove all AC equipment, lines etc that you can legally. I think you have to have the compressor in the car but not necessarily working.
Lightweight front and rear bumpers are legal.

Is the legal weight 2900? If so you have some work to do...

Race seats
Headers & open exhaust
FG front/rear bumpers
One piece FG rear decklid/wing (need to do the whole aerokit to be C legal)

You can't gut the interior or remove the AC.

not knowing what you have know i will assume everything is stock.

3130lbs

muffler bypass -35 lbs
race seats -40~50lbs (bolt to floor instead of using sliders)
sparco/momo race steering wheel -10lbs
cat bypass -5~10lbs
15lbs lightweight odyssey battery -25lbs (from stock boat anchor battery)
race wheels -20lbs
remove stereo equipment (deck, speakers,cd changer) -15~20lbs
remove spare tire and tools -20lbs
remove rear seats - 10lbs
aerokit decklid and wing -10lbs
---------
2920bs approx.
+100lbs safety
---------
3020lbs

minimum weight is 2910lbs

***removal of 5mph bumpers front and rear - 40lbs -> legal?***

do you have a c4? seems tad on the heavy side if you have a c2. my c2 is 3050 with a safety devices cage, 3/4tank of gas, supercharger, stereo, and the spare tire/tools (forgot to take out when being weighed) the '99 c2s are lighter. with everything on the list and 1/4tank i can get down to 2930. i have a supercharger and ligthweight flywheel so that would definitely kick me out of stock C i'm only time trialing anyway

You can remove the lines and the condensor to make room for an additional cooler though, we did that on the 993's to allow a second oil cooler.

After doing all that it's looking for 1 lb in a hundred different places. It's there. My car has full safety equipment and I carry 75 lbs of ballast to get to 2910. Of course we have long winters here in MN. Lots of time to look for onces.

Forgive my ignorance on C class rules: are you allowed to use a lightweight battery? You could easily shave 50 pounds there, I would guess.

I only took out the seats (fronts replaced with race, rears out). Replaced the exhaust with Fabspeed bypass (left the cats in). Removed the spare and tools. Car weighs 3000lbs now. I could remove the structure behind the bumpers and replace the battery and probably lose another 75lbs.

i need to add a few hundred pounds because my car weighed in way under the PCA CR "C" Class weight of 3307. This is a 97 tt. Now the only benefit is that i can add the ballast to the passenger side floor to better balance the car. I guess.

that's gotta be a typo -> kg. i used to have full leather heated power seats and now have 2 sparco race seats. it saves 20~30lbs per seat depending if you bold to floor or use sliders. sparcos are lighter than your gt3 seats.
