Default BBS Comp wheels

I have a set of BBS comp wheels with the 5 lug holes in them (left over from my street GT3) are these considered legal in GTC-3 format, or do I need the actual stock center lock wheels that came with the cup car. I believe that the wheels I have now can be used as either center lock or 5 lugs.

Thanks.

Does this mean what I think it means?

If you are thinking of keeping them just let me know because I will need to do something with the OEMs quickly.

Chris, Rick seems to think I might need to use stock cup wheels that came with the car and that these 5 lug BBS wheels wont be legal in GTC3. Just checkin'

If I had to I would lend them to you until you didn't need them.

From the 2006 rules book.

"In GTC3, wheels must be as delivered from the factory or aftermarket 3 piece OEM wheels of the same width, diameter, and offsets."

Of course updating and backdating between the early and late cars is fine.

Are you sure that 5 lug centers will work with centerlocks? If they do work, I can't imagine anyone caring about such an insignificant difference. Your wheels do meet the letter of the law that Geoffrey posted. I would just write Donna or Dick to get their take.

There are two types of GT3 cup wheels

FACTORY stock BBS : only have the center hub mount.
OEM BBS : have both center hub and 5 lug mount, lighter weight center (not quite as strong)

Either are legal in GTC3.

I'll go further to say that there is no such thing as a factory Porsche BBS wheel. You can buy them directly from BBS in Atlanta and they are the same that Porsche buys for their race cars. BBS wheels are available as centerlock only and 5 bolt/centerlock. Porsche used the former on GT3 Cup, R, RS, RSR, and the later on the earlier RSRs / GT2, all with centerlock configuration. Further, the earlier wheels are magnesium and the later are forged aluminum. GT3s came with both depending on year. I think only the 997 variants use the aluminum exclusively as BBS has phased out the magnesium wheels except for replacement of existing wheels.

There are other centerlock options from Fikse, Kinesis, to name a few, and they are legal in GTC3.

I have 3 1/2 sets of Fikse wheels as well, so I guess I have a few more options which I didn't think I had before. Thanks Geoffrey, Mike & Colin.
