Daytona Alignment suggestions or recomendations, especially for 944s
I'm sure everyone who's going to the Daytona Club Race received the following:
Daytona Club Race Registrants,
You should be aware that conditions on the high banking at speed at Daytona International Speedway are unlike anything you have encountered anywhere else you race. We would therefore urge you to discuss car set up with tire suppliers and race shops with experience at Daytona before going on track and make adjustments accordingly.
Via search I've found mention of set-up for Cup cars, and only running tires designed for 911s on the banking, but nothing for 944s. (Mine is a 944S2).
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Really looking forward to the weekend.

I don't want to answer for 38D, but possibly a 944 Turbo Cup, but probably nothing else. When I was last there most 944's don't get much in the way of side loads. With a 944 Turbo Clup car, I would ask whoever is going to be a tire supplier at Daytona. Would that be Woodman?
Sure wanted to make Daytona, but the car is only about 1/2 done. But then again a SP3 944S ain't going to have a prayer.

As I read this, the F Class #71 beat the #38 D by eight positions.

Woodman is the tire supplier. Hope to see you there next year, or at least at Sebring

Btw, from what I know, for Daytona you take nearly all the negative camber out of the right side of the car.

I wouldn't take all of the negative camber out. You still have some cornering to do in the infiled.
My mechanic set up my car for RRII and it was close to perfect. We ran 1.75 instead of 3 in the back also about a degree less in the front. You want the toe to be zero or slightly toe in, in the front. rear toe in as always.

But you knew I couldn't let your 944 comment go
See you down there, Hare. (And hopefully no mechanicals for either of us)

How is this track compared to a VIR or the Glen? One of those "must do" tracks? I'm considering a driver school but it's a significant amount of money. Sorry to take if off topic.

We recommend making a right rear camber adjustment on every car that runs Daytona.
Also, the 285/30R18 Hoosier should not be used as a rear tire on any car at Daytona.
Hoosier recommends that it is never run as a rear on a 911, but we're putting the 295/30R18 on the rear of all of our E and F class 944's at Daytona.
