Default 996 Cup Car year differences?

I'm trying to understand the evolution of the 2000 - 2005 996 Cup cars.

What are the updates done from each year? i.e. 2000 vs 2001, 2001 vs 2002, 2002 vs 2003, 2003 vs 2004, 2004 vs 2005.

Were any one year changes more significant than another?

How much would it cost to update a 2000 to 2005 specs?

Thanks,

http://www.autometricsmotorsports.co...p/supercup.htm

The link is some info on various years.

Here is a VERY rough description of the differences from the previous year. This is what i remember off the top of my head so I prob missed quite a few things

2000: Cable shifter

2001:Rear wing

2002:Updated front nose, Center exit muffler, Different ECU (map switch, pit lane speed ect..) 6 piston front calipers, Enlarged rear inner fenders for 680 size tires

2003: shorter 4-6 gears, carbon rear bumper, slightly diff center exhaust, long rod cup engine, crank case breather check valve, sachs adjustable shocks, diff wing uprights for a greater wing angle

2004: "X" main hoop for the roll cage, Carbon air box, Different seat mounts to move the driver closer to the center of the car (may have been a 2005 change)

2005: basically the same as 2004 since porsche introduced the 997 cup

Each year's Cup car took a lot of things from the prior year RS car. Upgrading each thing along the way will be much more expensive. Just buy the newest one that you can!

Don't forget the fundamental chassis change in '02, too (stiffer). It would be hard to upgrade that and make it worthwhile!

I know where a perfect and brand new almost 05 is currently. Cost is 125k$. I also will be selling the 2000 I own. It was the SuperCup Championship winning car driven by Patrick Huismann and has never had tub damage, is in good shape etc. Has a track record by almost 2 full seconds at its last race and missed a record at its prior race by a couple of tenths.
Pm me if You need info on either car.
Best,
G

If you are looking for an older cup car, but competitive one, I would sell mine for about what I have in it (upper 70s)

The car is, without question, one of the more competitive pre 04 cup cars. It has 04 gears, 04 adjust shocks and other updates. Still has 2000 engine with old style exhaust. Has been in an accident but when repaired is now better than a new 2000 and more like a 2004 car.

Email me at cbrown@bmstpa.com if you are interested. To get a marginally faster car you will be looking at $110 or so for a used 04 or $125 for newer 04 or 05 cars.

The only reason I would sell is that I may have a chance to get a newer 996 or 997 soon.

Arrgh! I know of several early GT3 Cup Cars that seem to be in great condition and are reasonably priced, and include spares. I just got the RSA, and planned to drive it for a few years before getting a cup car, and now there are people who will give me more than I paid for the RSA! I'm going out of my mind! Can't I just enjoy this car for a few years?

After somewhere north of 25 Porsches later, I feel I need to suggest that the answer is NO!
