I saw some at Roebling Roads and damned if I can't remember who the maker is. They are ALUMINUM SEATs that look remakably similar to the Kirkey. Anyone know who I am thinking of?

Depends...
Everyone that the Prof mentioned makes seats of varying styles, from generic wing seats to full containment, to whay I might call total containment. They are all pretty distinctive though. Not too hard to tell the brands apart, mostly.

I have an Ultrashield in one car, a Kirkey in two others and a Butler in another. Of all, I think the Butler is the best built (but it was a custom...not 'off the rack'), the Ultrashield a close second. Ran a night enduro as co-drive in somebody else's race truck thing, with a Butler full-containment seat, and was amazed at how unobtrusive the 'full containment' stuff was.

Just installed a mid level Ultrashield and while I think it's a good value must agree that the 'finish' is not what I expected.
Actual construction (welds and structural fitment) is OK. But lots of sharp edges and sloppy belt cutout lining. Since they have a several month order backlog I would guess the finish is suffering from hurried construction.
Wish I could afford a La Joie seat!
