Default Anyone using 18" RA1s on a 993?

I'm considering replacing MPSC w/ RA1s 245/40 on 8x18 and 275/35 on 10x18 996 5spokes wheels anyone using this or a similar setup?

Would love some feedback

I used that setup on my 993. The wheels were Forgeline WC3's. I had a very slight rub on the front tires outside edges on slow speed tight corners. The front camber was -2 running on 700 lb. springs with Moton Clubsports. The top of the wheel well was right at the top of the tire. The rears were no problem.

Bill- THANK YOU for posting this thread; I was about to ask this exact question.

Looking forward to any more comments, especially about rubbing in the front.

Alant hat is where my main concern is, at the front. What o/s do your Forgeline WC3's have in the front?

glad to hear no rubbing in back on the 275 35s

I'd go with 225 40 18s in front for my 993 though

I've had bad rubbing with 245s before and even rub on hard turns with 225s with my -3 camber in front

Rubbing with 225's? Surely that's on the inside, right? I can't imagine how you could rub with 225's on the outside with that much camber considering your car isn't that low.

I have rub marks on the INSIDE fender front (not the OUTSIDE fender front)

Eric, next time we are at the track, I can show you --- I've since covered it with undercoat spray but you can still see it and it tends to get rubbed every season so re-do the undercoating over and over to avoid rust...

I also NEVER happens in street driving and ONLY on some tracks and not all of them (I forget which it does vs. doesn't) ..IIRC, grattan is a for sure rub on that one hairpin turn... I also NEVER hear the rubbing occur.. only see the after effects... so I doubt it's very serious as its been happing for years but happened in regular street driving turning when I briefly had the 245s in front.

Oh, i see. I guess if 245's rubbed on the inside, we could always add a 1/8" spacer. I don't like the idea of 225fr / 275rr from a handling perspective since I'm already struggling with understeer.

I just ran a set of 245/305 18 ra1's on a 993 turbo a couple of weekends ago at Road Atlanta. They held up very well and ended up being faster than I thought they would. Overall I liked them allot and would recommend them as a great DE or lapping day tire. Prob not fast enough for club racing though. BTW the ones I used were shaved.

Any idea where to get a 1/8 to 1/4" spacer? Have some 275/335's on 9/11.5's waiting at the shop to try on. Thing is the offets are like 57 front, 51 rear.

Thanks

The GT3 has a 5mm spacer on the rear. You should be able to get those from a Porsche dealer.

Well the 275/335 fit pretty well. The fenders have been rolled. Am able to get the 275 to contact the inner fender well with the last 10% of a minimal radius turn. Camber is around -2 back, -1 front (soon to be -2 or -2.5 all around).

I got 1/4 inch spacers from Performance products. I have used 245/285 on my 993 (Hoosiers) with no issues other than they were spectacular, but too expensive for me to justify ;-(
