We are working on that right now. In the past we have had Kelly Collins, Cort Wagner, Bill Auberlin, Boris Said to name a few....

Geoffrey,

re the WG event on May 17/18, I checked the link provided above and didn't see any reference to the pro drivers you mentioned. Can you tell me more? What is the cost of a half hour with Boris Said, for example. Can participants sign up in advance for a session with one of the pros? I'm assuming there is more demand than supply.

Also, since the event is restricted to advanced drivers, am I correct in assuming the event cost to everyone, including instructors, is $200?

The 2 day event costs $320 for two days of open track at WGI. It is open to all advanced drivers - white (well seasoned), black and red drivers. The checker flag is thrown every 1/2 hour and you need to exit the track, but you can go right back on. At the event we have one - two pro drivers who provide instruction. They can drive your car and you can observe from the passenger seat or they can ride with you and instruct you. The cost is $175 per 1/2 hour session above the $320 you spend to be there. These sessions are reserved in advance and there is a place on the registration form to request sessions. The number of sessions are limited, obviously, but we have had people pay for 4 sessions in past years. I don't recall what the process is if the sessions with pro drivers fill up and don't know if it is first come first serve.

Here is a link to the online registration form

Geoff, does this event fill up? I may not know if I can make it until sometime in April.

It is a well represented event, but I don't think it fills up. We average about 100 entrants and I think we have room for around 120. HCP is handling the registration and there is a cancellation policy that should work for you. I'm in the same boat, I'll be testing my new car the weekend before the event so I won't know until that Monday whether or not everything is fine.

Default pro drivers

In the past add Derek Bell, Hurley Haywood and David Murry to the list. Availability has alot to do with the racing schedule. The last two years Grand Am was running at LCMT that weekend so many of the big names had a conflict, or it was too close for comfort. In the past it was pretty close to the Lime Rock World Challange date so the California boys were on their way east, and the cash spoke to them. A fews years back a major factory driver got dinged up, and was more than a little concerned about the potential ramifications. I hear some of the best entertainment with some of the pros occurs at the Senaca Lodge Bar.

Any pro can jump in your car and make you realize how little you know. Especially if they are driving!

Default for sure, I am a track *****!

I will be at Lime Rock on 3/31 also. As we speak I am trying to get the motivation to do a compression test and drop the engine for to adjust the valves, deal with minor leaks and do a leak down test.

If the engine has enough life left without a rework then I will do a suspension. If not I will probably cut and run up to a 964. So much to do, too little time or energy!

Alan,

HVR @ LRP 3/30 (thursday). If you show up on 3/31, I think you'll find CVR at Lime Rock!

This event sucks! You pay $300 and only get 16hrs. of track time over 2 days!

All kidding aside....this is my favorite event of the season and I hope to see some of you there....faces with the names and so forth.

You forgot to mention its on a miserable excuse for a race track. That place has no character whatsoever. Guess thats why I signed up the day the event opened.
