Default quick MPSC question

will 265/35-18 wide MPSCs fit on an 18x8.5" rim? tire rack recommends 9-10.5" widths for the 265 but i am wondering if i could squeeze one on.

Michelin also recommends 9-10.5 (http://www.michelinman.com/assets/pd...tsportcup.pdf). FWIW, I have a 255/40-17 MPSC on a 9.5" wheel. I don't think you'll be getting more rubber on the road, er, track, with this wide a tire on that wheel. I assume this is for the front? I use a 225/24-17 on an 8" wheel for the front.

yes this will be for the front. just looking at my options. currently i am using 235/295 on 18x8.5/11. thinking about doing 265/315. the 295s look quite stretched and don't seem to be a true 295.

It will be impossible to get 265s up to temp in the front. Stick with the 235s.

I have seen 265's on the front of a 996 C2 , 2002. Also on a pro racing C class 99, 996 bought to run in PCA(just wrong). Both cars seems to handle great and I know both drivers are winning races with this set up. IM Darren for more info on what has worked on his 996. I think he has tried every tire combo, but settled on 265's up front. As far as temps. I did help him run temp/tire pressure readings with a pyrometer and did not see a huge disparity front to rear, but I will say on a hot DE session I was able to pull on him and check out early on the warm up laps running Hoosiers on my 993.

i would love to try hoosiers and probably will eventually but my wallet cannot take it. 8~12 heat cycles then they are done right?

Carlos,

Your suspension is severely compromised by the fact that you have to drive your car to the events. Take this away and you can dial in the negative camber that you need to help decrease the low speed understeer that you are experiencing.
