I generally dont hold my breath, like Glen said it looks like the 993 is the wrong car to fall in love unfortunately with the PCA attidute towards the model. While this weight off would not make a huge difference, still it will be very nice not to have to anchor led to the car and yes every little thing helps.

Reading my latest CR mailing, it looks like Lance stepped down and Donna is taking over. You might want to send her the email.

I knew the PCA figure was out of line.

Look at the GTS Challenge series. They use an ACTUAL weight to horsepower and torque figure to classify the cars. Plus a 13/13 rule that makes sense.

Care to guess where I'll be racing the most next year?

I am thinking about racing my RSA in D soon and the hp/weight ratio is not much better than a 95 993 and worse than 96-98 (narrow). I still don't understand how a 964 Cup can have a LWF, R&P, etc., etc., etc., but if I add those I am bumped to C.

Welcome to the inequities of PCA. That is why you have to choose your car carefully. It seems that PCA likes to have the most expensive car as the class leader, not the most prevalent. BTW, the disparities between US Cup Car and RSA are eliminated once you move to C. That's why I am seriously considering a prepared RSA.

Really, the weight on the Turbo 3.6 is a joke. I've done really nothing to my car other than what is needed to race it (seats, cage, etc) and I have to add 180 lbs. I thought about petitioning for a change but was too lazy...

John,
Will you be a the first NASA race at MidOhio? I plan to be there and if I like it I'll probably only run the MidOhio club race this year. Several that I have talked to were impressed last year.

BTW, I have 80 lb. of lead with a full cage. I even used 1020 DOM seamless for the cage because I didn't need to save weight.

Lets get some more P cars out to NASA!!! Ran 2 races with them last year, mixed classes with Porsche and various other makes. If enough German cars show up, we get our own run group! And best of all, there is a national championship at Mid Ohio in Sept.!!

I ran 80 lbs of ballast with the old racing cab (which was heavier stock vs. the coupe) I loved the 993 but cut my losses early (1 season of racing) when it became clear the the 993 was not the car of choice.

Heck, even in E, the 993 will be pressed by a well set up 944 Turbo S

The Midwest NASA schedule is

APRIL 15/16-----BLACKHAWK FARM-----EASTER FIRM
MAY 20/21-------PUTNAM PARK with NASA OH/IN FIRM
JUNE 17/18-----MAM (father's day weekend)----FIRM
JULY 8/9----- ROAD AMERICA with Ferrari Club NOT FIRM YET
JULY 22/23-----AUTOBAHN with NASA OH/IN-----FIRM
AUGUST 12/13-----MID O Nationals PRACTICE with NASA OH/IN---FIRM
SEPT 11/17-----MID OHIO NASA NATIONALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIRM
OCT 21/22----Midwest Region Season Finale at ROAD AMERICA---FIRM FIRM

The Ohio NASA schedule is

April 21-23 Mid Ohio
May 20-21 Putnam Park
June 10-11 BeaveRun
July 7-9 Mid Ohio
July 22-23 Autobahn
August 11-13 Mid Ohio
September 11-17 NASA Nationals
October 7-8 Putnam Park

Alan

I plan to be there. Rebuilding the front calipers this weekend and want to get to the dyno in Columbus in the next couple weeks. I am looking forward to it.

John,
Is Columbus the closet dyno? There are a couple in Cincinnati. We should see some interesting results with my 80K car and your 100K plus car.

I'm thinking of running 3 of the MidOhio events and probably one Putnam maybe 2. With NASA we don't have to be the class Porky Pigs. I'd like to get the lead out

The one in Columbus on the west side (west broad street, I think) is where I was planning on going. I have the info at the office. I talked to him and his is portable. He also said he was contacted by NASA to do the Mid-Ohio events. I think I want to get my readings on his since it will likely be the one used at the events I plan to run. Nice guy. Quoted me $65.00 for three pulls. His schedule is flexible too.

I talking with the nat scrut he mentioned the need to write to PCA to "discuss" this ballast issue. With almost every car having ballast something needs to be changed like a lowering of the weight or a new weight with the driver.

I too am thinking of running some of the NASA events at Mid-Ohio this year.

The idea of a weight of car plus driver rule sounds good.

John, I agree with your logic on the Columbus dyno facility. Let me know when you plan to go. Gregg Lewis might tag along as well.
