I'm doing the comp school and races in a rented Spec Miata from King Rat. For me, arrive and drive is the way to go. Breakfast, beverages, snacks, lunch....not to mention all of the car stuff that is taken care of for me. Just hoping I'm not a total wuss!

That's actually a pretty wise move. Most of us are scrambling trying to get the cars reading, etc...

Eli, that has to be the understatement of the year . . . With as many bullets as I have been sweating lately, you would think that I actually had the prospect of winning money rather than just handing my wallet to a succession of vendors/mechanics

Lesson number one about racing: Preparation takes 5 times longer, and costs 10 times as much, than you would think. You will not be competitive, or even reach the track, unless you develop good car/driver prep skills.

TD:

Have you looked at our schedule for Friday? We are either in class, or on track all day. And then we have the GTS Challenge meeting at 7:30pm that night. We'll probably lose a couple of rookies to low blood sugar/dehydration from not being able to eat/drink during the day

That's true, although, as you know, I always find a way to squeeze in food and drink

I look forward to seeing you in the school, Boss, should be a great time

Its a tight schedule, and there is typicall 10 minutes or so between the end of a class and 'ready on grid' time. There will be a few snatches during the day where you might have time to check tire pressures
You will get time to grab lunch, but you will be eating it in the classroom

Its a great day, and one of the best single days at the track you will ever have [as far as learning goes, anyway]. See you there. If you need help with your car, I will do all I can to help while you guys are locked up. I'll be in the 944Cup Ghetto - just look for the Luuve Shack.

Thanks Tony. I'm just trying to figure out how I'll warm my car up. Since it holds 20 qts of oil, it generally takes it FOREVER to warm up.

Besides that, I can barely get suited up and in my car in 10 minutes. With the HANS, suit, belts, window net. But I can get OUT in 7 seconds flat.

We'll see how it goes.

See you on Friday!

I'll be sporting a new look with the car:

Wow! You car has morphed into one fully blown track happy appliance!

Don't worry about suiting up time. You'll have your driving suit on all day.
