I want to say its been cold and clear for the afternoons the last couple of years. IIRC, it was frost on the windows in the mornings and seems to be in the 40s for the mid-morning. I want to say it actually warms a touch in the afternoons but we're not talking about breaking a sweat weather. In '02, I don't think it ever got out of the 40s during the enduro - cannot recall last year or the year before.

If they run it like they did last year, the sprint/enduro is a little weird on Sunday as they ran the CMC/944 Sprint races withIN the Enduro.

It will be the same this time. 944Cup and CMC get a sprint race Saturday, and then a sprint within the Enduro on Sunday. I missed this race last season, so not sure how it works out, but they will throw a checker [and probably a white the lap before] at 30-40 minutes into the Enduro to mark the end of the 944Cup/CMC sprint race.

Sounds like a solid group of hardy Rennlisters will be there. Weather in 2004 was frosty mornings, and sunny but brisk afternoons.

Actually, the Sprint race on Sunday also includes all 5 classes of the GTS Challenge. Contact me for further info.

There's no deadline per se, but the event fills up quickly - so I wouldn't wait too long to register.

There's also a special registration link for GTS sprint racers WHICH IS NOT the same as the public one on NASA's site. That link is >

You have it right Tony. For the start on Sunday, the cars in the sprint race will begin the race in a sparate group staged behind the cars racing in the Enduro.

This is semi-OT, with my apologies... but for anyone surfing the forum who's perhaps not *quite* ready for HPDE @ VIR-Full that weekend, NASA will also have an autocross on the 1.1 mile infield Patriot Course on Saturday. Expect a minimum of 6-8 runs and no work assignment, on a roughly-90-second course (we will run clockwise with the start timer at pit-out and the finish timer coming down the hill before pit-in; the straightaways will be slowed-down with cones.) Details are here:

http://www.get-fast.net/nasacross/21806

I hope anyone interested in coming but perhaps not quite ready for their first HPDE experience... signs up for the autocross so they'll have even more of a reason to be at VIR with NASA in February!

Thanks,

BKS, Todd, Eli, and now sleder........ a great new crop of racers for VIR!!

You guys are going to have a ball. Best plan is to aim for peaceful coexistance and consistency in your first races. Aside from being a good way to start, it helps create a false sense of security amoung your competitors. Then, next race.........

I'm just hoping it doesn't rain for the comp school! Last thing I want to do is be on the track with a bunch of race rookies (including myself) trying to do our best to get a comp license.

Think you need a comp license to do test and tune. Open practice would be an option though if u need the track time to learn the course.
