944S2 Club Sport
I did not have any luck getting responses at the 944 S2 Forum, so I ask here. I have seen Clubrace results were 944S2 Club Sport is mentioned. I am looking for Specification on 944S2 Club Sport. Can someone tell me where I can find detailed information on these cars. Was the suspension the same as the Turbo Cup cars? Spring rates? Do they have torsion bars? What size? I know the PCA weight is around 2775 and HP is 225. Was the AC deleted? Did they have sunroof? As you may suspect, I am trying to find information on S2CS to see what it takes to convert a regular S2 to a Club Sport for Club Racing.
Thanks

Nader:
Could the Club Sport be referring to the Firestone Firehawk Series 944S2's?
Just a guess. Sorry, I don't know enough of the S2 racing history, though I own and track a stock S2.

There was a 911 Club Sport model in the late 80's where Porsche put a better suspension, hand picked the best stock 3.2 engine (All engines has different output), and took most of the standard comfort features out to reduce weight by almost 200 lbs.
Based on the name 944S2 Cllub Sport I guess the car has better than stock suspension, no sunroof, and minimum comfort features and about 200 lbs lighter than regular 944S2.
I think it would be very difficult to make a regular 944S2 to the Club Sport spec because of parts availabilities.

The factory made 7 944 S2 CS models in 1991 for competition in the Firestone Firehawk series. They came with no sound insulation, no sunroof, no AC, no radio, fiberglass hood, manual windows, manual hatch release. I THINK they came with double adjustable Konis. They also had the same strut brace as the Turbo Cup 944's. Came with 9' and 10' x 16" magnesium phone dials too. I don't know what the spring rates were.
My opinion...... Keep the car in F where it is known to be competitive. I own one of the former Kelly Moss IMSA Firehawk S2's. It BARELY gets down to 2,750lb PCA weight. If PCA ever faces the obvious and starts weighing cars with drivers, I'll either have to run heavy or go on a very serious diet!

Go to ebay. Type in 944 S2 or 944S2. I don't remember which. You should find a guy selling a set of 944 club sport caster something or others.. I think this guys used to campaign factory S2 club sport cars. He may have some information for you..

I will have to wait until next week to check but I think I have an old Christophorus that outlined the S2 Club Sport specs (this was 1989 or 1990 issue). If so I will post here.

My pleasure. The infamous S2CS has been the topic of discussion many times before!
Best of luck with the club racing, I hope to join the ranks myself someday soon!

BTW: The owner/mechanic of an independant Porsche / BMW shop in North NJ owns and DE's on of the Firestone Firehawk 944S2s. It is a wicked cool car, and Will D. is a wicked fast driver to boot!
