Default PCA-Road America

Any news from the PCA race? Reports from GTC3? Would have liked to make the trip but decided to stay local and run with the SCCA at Summit Point.

As always the crew from Chicago put on a great race. Lots of cars, great competition and almost no wrecks. Off the track the annual trip to Elkart Lake along the original Road America route was as fun as always. I can't comment on GTC3 but we had a bunch of fun in C.

Thanks to the Chicago region and sorry about Nord Stern sneaking off with all your trophies?

Hey Bill. Wondered what happend to you. I won the race on Sunday after swapping positions a couple of times with the other cup car. The other cup actually got pinched off to the outside in 10 while chasing me and got into the tire wall. They managed to get the car fixed and running for the Monday race. We had another good race Monday. I was in the lead until an off in turn 5. I got going again but could not catch the other cup before the checker and came in second. I fun weekend overall with a new personal record laptime at Summit Point during the Saturday sessions!

Lawson,

Your old Cup qualified 22 out of 49 in the blue group, first in class out of two. The majority of our sprint was under yellow due to some incidents and I just pitted early and packed up for home. I dont have the sprint or enduro results, but here is the top five GTC3 qualifying order:

Buckler, 2:19.5
De Angelis, 2:20.4
Flaska, 2:20.9
Cervelli, 2:20.9
Carlisle 2:21.2

I'm not going to make it out east this year. Unless I'm hit by lightning, I'll be at Road Atlanta in '06. See you there?

Lawson, I was at summit to run the two sessions after having lots of work completed on the car. I leave for Watkins Glen in the AM with about 6 hours of practice/qualify/race time over 4 days.

Good racing. I know all about getting bumped off in turn 10 but my recovery was about 75K.

Cervelli is one impressive driver. That pretty amazing.

A great weekend and great track-rat companions. I celebrated the completion of the enduro by drinking gallons of Gatorade and removing my rookie "X" from the car

Thumbs up

Nice work Kevin! Glad to see you are enjoying the car. I will definitely have RA on the schedule for next year.

Here's video of the start of the Blue Group Sprint Race and the car whose engine blew three spots ahead of me on lap #2. It coated the windshield in a nice glaze of oil (doesn't look as bad on video) that I had the pleasure of racing with...

(Started 27th on grid, 5th in class, finished 3rd in class and 19th in group!)

Jupe,

Outstanding driving! Tell me again how you only qualified 27th; you let Katie drive?

I didn't stick around afterwards, but what was the talk about all the yellow flags during the race? I never figured out what happened to the 944 in Canada Corner and the 993 Turbo on fire in the Carousel looked really bad.

Boy do I need to work on my starts

Pleasure meeting you and your family.

Mike,
Just jerking your chain. As always it was great seeing you guys.

Charlie,
We didn't get a chance to talk but I saw plenty of you on the track. Great racing. I wish I could get the video to work. It says I'm missing a compressor. Any ideas?

Kev,
The 993TT in the carousel broke an exhaust pipe which set the bumper cover on fire. It looks to be mostly cosmetic.

Mike,

Glad to have finally met the Big Turtle in person.

Also want to say "hi" to all the Rennlisters that I met including Eric C. who's tips and words of advice were appreciated, Jeff P. who let me store my wheels under his trailer and Jerry G. who I chatted with briefly.

See you at TRAC '06. (BTW, does anyone have contact info for the track photographer? Thanks.)

Jim,

Glad to hear that, looked alot worse when I first passed by. I know we didn't meet, but I assume you won C in the sprint - congrats.
