Default DE Question: Mounting Fire Extinguisher for Boxster S?

I have a 2000 Boxster S that I'm looking to take to it's first DE at the end of Spetember. I'm wondering what types of solutions people have come up with for mounting a fire extinguisher. I'm really not interested in drilling holes. If possible I'd like to use existing bolts or something.

In my 911 SC, I fabricated a mount that used the bolt holes for the sliders on the passenger seat. Not sure if that's an option for the Boxster.

Ideas are appreciated.

I used the Brey-Kraus mount. No drilling, uses the seat rail bolts (though you'll want to get longer ones).

I've got a 2000 S Boxster and I use the Brey-Krause mount that attaches to a sub-belt bar. This is a pic of the extinguisher in my car:

Here is the bracket from the BK website:

It attaches to this sub bar:

They also make this bracket which attaches directly to you seat mounts via the seat mounting bolts:

Either of these brackets require a saddle mount for the extinguisher itself. See the twin latches on my fire extinguisher setup.

Here is the Brey-Krause link

Hope this helps,

Bruinbro - where did you get the two-strap bracket for the fire extinguisher? I can only find one-strap models that come with the Amerex extinguishers.

Thanks....Marc

Marc,

Mine has dual straps. I got it from OG Racing. I also have the BK mount, which is great, except that passengers sometimes catch their feet on the dual straps and "unbuckle" the extinguisher when exiting the car.

Boxster Mike. Are the sub belts in the image positioned in the way you would use them on the track?

TD - thanks. I looked at OGRacing but they seem to only sell Halon which is illegal in Canada (I guess we're supposed to care about the environment ). I have the BK mount already with a single strap bracket for an ABC powder extinguisher (Amerex, 2.5 lb) with a Halitron (legal in Canada) extinguisher on order.

Try calling OGRacing. They usually have access to more products than they list on the website. Wanna protect the environment? Keep the shiny side up, don't start a fire and you won't have to use the fire extinguisher

P.S. My extinguisher is Amerex as well . . .

I bought my extinguisher on flea-bay and it was mounted on a 911 BK bracket with the two clamp bracket. I would do some web surfing.

Just recently got a 2.5lb Halon from CDOC, which was the best price I found. $117 for it shipped. Great service...came in 2 days.

Quick question...I'm about to mount the BK fire ext. mount. Does it matter what side the fire ext. is on? I was thinking of mounting the extinguisher with the mouth closer to the passenger door, so it does not get in the way of the passenger as much, but it seems like everyone has it facing the center console.

Is there a right and wrong direction it should be mounted??
