Default Michelin Teams to Boycott USGP?? (Developing)

It has been heard on scanners that 3 hours before the USGP Michelin teams are demanding the FIA allow them to change tires before or during the race for saftey reasons. If not they will not compete and put their drivers at risk. This has all come about from a statement last night from michelin stating they "will not guarantee the tires, we are worried".

Steve Manchett has been heard talking to the booth on the developement of the story.

Just let them drive slower, less friction, less heat, less problems. At first Michelin tried to blackmail the FIA boycoting the race if they weren't allowed to fly in different type of tires. Now, it's the teams. I even heard they considered adding a chicane in the last turn.

Michelin took 2 different type of tires with them and they made the wrong choice. The teams choose to drive with Michelin tires, so drive with them and don't start whining.

Just said by one of the announcers, I agree:

"Formula one has just shot themselves in the foot in the biggest consumer market in the world." Most of the teams just pitted after the warm up lap and they climbed out of the cars. This sucks. Michelin blew it big time.

I fell really bad for my friends who drove all the way from NC to Indy to watch the race. That is ridiculous...

In wonder what Tony George is saying???

Yes, I have friends who drove out there from NJ to watch the race. The whole thing is bizarre to watch.

I think about all the sponsors, TV and otherwise, that paid expecting a certain level of coverage and now they are going to get people like me turning off the race because it is such a farce.

Is it just me, or when they show the overhead shots of the speedway, does it look like people are filing out of the speedway?

Typical FIA - Ecclestone BS! A safety issue arrises and they would rather screw the golden goose than deal with it.

Nothing ever changes.....

If you know anybody at the track - call them on their mobiles and ask them to throw all they have on the track so this stupid farce is halted.
If its good enough for Mr George to chuck his watch........

Absolutely horrific! Although it's hard to fault anyone else but Michelin in this case, IMO. The FIA are trying to be fair for those who are playing by the rules, and if they were to change the track, as suggested by Michelin, then it would be unfair to the Bridgestone runners who didn't do anything wrong.

It's a sad day for F1, and I feel very bad for the people who are at the GP today. I was there last year and had a great time.

You know who loves this the most? The France family....
Probably more race fans switching their TV's over to the Nextel Cup race at Michigan...
