There are no surprises. You get what you pay for. My HF unit has worked very well for 1 year so far. The HF racing jack lasted about that long too, before it started to leak. I'm hoping for a few seasons from my HF impact wrench, but I'd be surprised if I got more than that. Mine is the Orange one, and cost about $99.00. Snap-On is beautiful. If cost were no object, I'd own one, as would anybody.

Check Ebay for Snap-On stuff. I bought an 18v impact with two batteries, New-in-box, shipped for $380. Retail is $550. It is very light and powerful. I splurged to get the best for something i'll use as much as this.

I've got the Dewalt 18 volt unit. Works great, came with 2 batteries, and is compatible with all my other Dewalt stuff.

Good get Mike! I wish I spent that little on mine and I only have one battery. It is the best by far price excluded but if you can get it for less than $100 more than a DeWalt or a Mill it is well worth it. What is nice about it is with the fine control of the Snap on you can use it for much more than lug nuts. The Mikita is a light weight tool made for other apps and not in the same class as the others.

Yes I am thinking of the same HF tool.when they first came out they were on sale for 1/2 price. The list price has changed since then. It is good to see that they work better than the sample I observed.

12v won't break the lug nuts free. I too have the dewalt DW059 model. It is nice b/c you can use the batteries in all of their tools. They even have a radio w/a built in battery charger.

I usually use a DeWalt 18v battery drill. I break the lugs, it only takes an extra second, and then the drill just spins them off. It puts the lugs back on really tight too. Just another quarter turn with the torque wrench to tighten them up again. It's nice to have a drill around the pits too.

But my new setup is the bomb, baby! A 2kw Honda generator (the size of a small suitcase) a Craftsman portable air compressor, an IR 1/2" impact wrench, a 500 watt work light and never looking for air again!

Same here, I break the lug nuts loose by hand, then use a 18 volt Robbee (sp) drill to spin them off. Good trigger control for mounting wheels too. You can tighten the nuts up in two steps, ~ 50 lbs. then ~ 80 lbs. finish tightening to 100 ft/lbs. using a torque whench.
