Question LSD sources

That's limited slip of course. I'm in need of one for my 924S track car, are there any good used sources around?

There's a guy in Isle Vista, CA that used to be able to do liquid or album cover - your choice. He was ... oh wrong LSD <g>

I am not sure if you are a "try something different" type but call Keith at Eurowerks about the LSD they put in my 944-S (Eckridge Diff - its what a lot of us use in ITS and ITA cars, clutch type w/ friction discs which you can vary the spring rate or friction material based on your needs). I really love the feel of the one in my car (~6k miles old now) and it should be a very good solution and very reasonably priced compared to your alternatives.

There's a recently rebuilt S2 tranny with LSD for sale on the 944 cup website classifieds. I think it's $1400. www.44cup.com

I really don't need a tranny, just the lsd. That is unless an lsd is going to cost the same. What do they sell for, new and used?

They're going to be about the same. New quaife's (for example) are around $1250 or so. GT may be a little cheaper, but they're all in the same general range.

Generally won't find a used LSD, as they are generally going to be sold with the transmission. Not a lot of people are going to go through the effort to pull an LSD out to sell, when they can sell the whole tranny for about the same price and not have to go through the hassle of getting greasy.

Powerhaus are offering a good deal on Quaife. There is a price increase coming soon, so might be a good time to buy something now. Talk to Roger at Powerhaus II : rogerbrown@powerhausii.com, and tell him you heard about his deal for the 944Cup series.

Lemming, since your car is a dedicated track car, you may want to strongly consider the 80% lock-up clutch type. Paul Guard recommends the ATB type (such as a Quiafe) only for the street. He sells ATB, 40%, and 80% so he has no reason to recommend one other another other than what would be best for the particular application.

Tony, does 944 Super Cup allow the use of Quaife or Guards LSD on a non-LSD 944 Turbo? I'm not ready to race quite yet (no tow vehicle) but I've been keeping my car relatively stock so that I would have the option. I saw you guys at VIR Nth last year. Looked like a great race series.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Contact Dave Deracola (series director) at cup944@aol.com for what you can run. Or, post this question on the www.44cup.com website. He'll usually have an answer for you by the end of the day. The site is also a great place to get information about setup/prep.

We're going to be at CMP on 4/30-5/1, and then July 16/17 at Summit Point which I believe has a licensing school as well. Do the school on Friday, and race saturday and sunday.

Come on out as we need more cars in Supercup!

Yeah, 40% is my recollection, and that's what I'm running - doesn't seem like I have enough torque to get into trouble on the track. I've also heard it's fairly straightforward to mess around with the shims and change it to an 80%?
