My understanding is that any DOT approved tire is eligible. Just be sure the tire is DOT approved with the tread pattern, and is not just a regular tire that has been hand grooved... I believe this has been done in the past and ruled ineligible.

Are you referring to grooving a Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tire?

The new style Hoosier S04 (2004 model) are indeed legal for PCA club racing. The old style S03's were not legal as they were hand grooved. Mich Pilot Sport Cups are also legal. JCP911s was talking about the rule that any DOT tire is legal as long as it is not hand grooved

So the MPSC which has been grooved to make it a much better rain tire is illegal, correct?

Does that mean you can't groove your own? or that all hand-grooved tires are illegal?
