Default Racing Simulator, Frex + GTR

OK, I'm completely out of control. I am putting together a race simulator to try to help with my dearth of track time. I think the program is that good that it will help my driving.

Here are a few shots as I start to put things together.

Overall comments:

The Frex build quality is simply excellent. The instructions are pretty poor but it's not to hard to figure most things out. I will be asking a few questions though.

I am doing my own wheel so that it matches my car.

The pedals should be great. I do not have the foot rest mounted yet.

I will hopefully have everything together in another week. I will have full and good photo's then.

Wow! The seat and wheel are better than my car!

This is a kit? How much is the kit and what does it come with?

What game are you planning to use this with? I haven't found any that have good physics.

OK, the Frex hardware was $2,700 including shipping. I got a sequential shifter as well as the H shifter. The wheel and seat were another $6-700. I bought a gaming computer ($2k) and will project it through my home theatre (110" screeen). I also have head tracking so when you turn your head, you look ahead through the turn.

The best game I know of, and I don't think any others are very close (Grand Prix Legends comes closest IMO) is GTR. I t is only available from Germany right now. It includes full Motec data acquisition.

Juan: This is the basement. Tell her my wife gets the first two floors, I get the basement. I have two young girls so Daddy needs a "cave".

Howie: Have you tried the complete version in simulation mode? It really is excellent.

Rich: I haven't run GPL a lot as I have switched to GTR for quite a while.

This is my preliminary track. I have a complete track setup being shipped. It is scalextric digital (lane changing capability) and it truly awesome for slot cars. I got it from Fantasy World hobbies.

I ordered it from Germany and struggled through the english conversion. So far I have only played semipro. Is the physics engine different for Pro??
