Default 968 engine in a 944

Anyone dropped a 968 engine in a 944?
I tried the search, but I got some many results so it's hard to find any good ones.

You can also check the 944/951 forum. Seach under 944 S3. A few guys have done that conversion and use that label for their cars.

Matt Marks (a friend in Potomac Region) dropped one in his 944S. He posts here so maybe he will see this. Do a search under his name since he probably has chimed in on this topic when it has come up in the past.

Steve Smith, who now works at Randolph has such a car. If you contact Kevin, I'm sure Steve would equally be happy to talk to you about it. They can be contacted at:

I had it done on my car. It's a blast to drive!

What info are you looking for?

I put an S2 motor in my old 944S. That is a little bit easier of a conversion, although not too different. I may be able to answer your questions.

There is a guy in Birmingham, Alabama that put a 968 motor in a 924S. I don't know his name, but he goes by the screen name Lemming.

He did it several years ago, and did a real good job.

That would be me, search "924S3 update" for a complete build on that car. You can also search "Resurrecting Frankencar" for the latest build, a 944S with a supercharged 968 engine.

Dang man, that is a cool looking car. The last time I saw it was at a PBOC event in 05 at Barber, I think. And then it looked pretty stock.

This has been done many many times. Matt O did it, and his car was pretty nice, and had no trouble keeping up with my 951 (when it ran) in some of the events we held. Check out the 944 board for sure.
