Just an FYI, Tire Rack has them on sale. Pricing is quite good. I picked up an extra set. 285/30/18 for $129 and 235/40/18 for $130. I bought my first set from Sasco several months ago and they were considerably more expensive.
Just a note for fellow Rennlisters. Thanks to my instructor, Fritz, at the last NASA event, for letting me know.
Regards,
Sam

According to Lynn Wilson, you want to run the 245/35 in the front, yes they are a real bargain, and I have two sets on order - grand total with shipping, only $1110

That is an unbelievable deal. I, of course, paid more than $1,100 for my "first on the block" set-- 250s and 285s--from SASCO. The 250s had to be imported from Canada.
Hey Larry-- how wide can I go on GT3 rims and tires?

Lee, I am running 9s & 11s. Fikse & Kinesis seem to have the offsets down correctly, and you cannot really run larger wheels, at least in the front. You can run 245/35s on the front, and up to 305/30s on the back. My front tires come very close to the fender liners, and will rub hard on the inner fender brake ducts before full lock. I left one right in in the middle of the esses at Watkins Glen. It must have loosened up in the pits.

Believe it or not, they cram 12s on the rear of the SGS pro cars (some fender rolling required
So I assume that tire-wise, you are running 245 Fs and 305 Rs, something like that? When you get a chance, can you e-mail me the offsets. I was going to go BBS, but I have used and liked Fikses in the past.
BTW, be prepared for a lot of pesky little setup Qs. I have sold the 993 RSCS, sold the Audi S4, and am scouring the country for a lo-option GT3 I can start beating on. Not much luck so far, but I'm just getting warmed up...

I have to say that I don't like them as much as the MPSCs. I was still able to get FTD at NNJR's Time Trial last weekend with the, though. I'm really debating whether I want a 2nd set at 1/2 price or go back to MPSCs...

Guys buy the Dunlops while you can. I heard a rumor that they may be discontinued which is why Tire Rack is dumping them cheap.

I've stayed away from the R3S04 because of the cording issues in 18's I read about. Has that been solved?
I enjoyed running with you at Lime Rock earlier this month. We'll meet again...

The problem with the Hoosier R3S04 was that 2 steel belts were added in the tread area and did not extend all the way to the shoulder. The steel belts ended ~ 3/4" to 7/8" off the shoulder. What would happen is the tire would start to cord where the steel belts end. Hoosier has extended the steel belts to the shoulder, but only on the 245/35/18 and the 285/30/18 as of August. As far as I know the plan is to change all the tires but they have to re-DOT test them. These tires are the best tires I have run on my RS America weighting 2690lbs w/half tank of gas. I have run PZero C, MPSC, Toyo (Toilets as I call them), R3S03 and Yokohama slicks. As for wear on the R3S04 the 245/35/18 has 816 miles/26 heat cycles and the 286/30/18 has 345 miles and 13 heat cycles. The fronts look great and are still working and the rears should last at least as long. The Yokohama slicks lasted 567 miles/20 heat cycles. FYI, I did a 2:07.56 at the Glen and a 1.00 flat at Lime Rock on the R3S04's which is the fastest I have ever run.
Anyone looking for a used set of Toyos RA-1 235/45/17 & 275/40/17 with lots of tread left?

I just ordered a set of 245-35-18 and 285-30-18 for my 968. At less than 1/2 the price of MPSC's that is a great deal even if they aren't quite as fast!! What's up with the tires being discontinued?
