Haha, thanks for the vote of confidence guys. Those last few seconds are pretty tough to shave off, and there are some other driver's in this class that are shall we say "pretty quick". We'll see...

I arrived Sunday and got the word about Bill. Awful stretch of luck. This guy is really fit phsically, he'll be up and around in no time.
Feature race-- Mike Levitas ran away in GT1R with the Orange 993 Turbo beast. He qualified at 1:14, won with 1:15.9
I show Nick Ventura winning GTP1, Paul Orwicz taking GTC3 in his Cup car (1:18.3--that's quick in my book) over Ray Williams; Tom Pank capturing GT2 in his 993.
Jeff Burger, as mentioned, got GTC1 and overall @ 1:23.
Keith Alexander in the B-stock GT3 close behind @ 1:23.3, Rafael Llopiz 2nd.
Manny Alban got a great win in C (1:26.9, off last year's winning pace--but hey! I wish it was me... )
Steve Berlack took D turning a 1:25.6
Great racing and wonderful weather.
(Get well soon, Bill... )

Rafael second in B? In the feature race, group 2 was the first race group (first time I have ever seen group 2 race before group 1 or group 3 of 3 groups,....
) and poor Rafael literally dozed off and assumed that the race groups would be in typical order of 3,2,1-which makes some sense. Hence, he would have an hour or so before the race. He was rapidly awakened to the cars in our group(his group) zooming by....... He got out there, but it was too late......
Keith and I had a great race in the GT3 street cars. Keith won with a best lap of 1:23.5 and I was 4 seconds behind with the 1:23.3.

Yes unfortunately. It would have been a great race with all 3 of us going at it. I think Rafael did a 1:23.5 as I recall, so all 3 of us would have been passing each other multiple times during the 18 laps if he would have made the grid in time....

My RSCS was sleeping in the garage. I am involved in a huge project at work and made a pledge to keep my focus on that until early September. But I had to drive out at mid-day to see how things were going at the track... Think of it as a six-hour coffee break ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

What absolutely lousy news.
Bill Walczak is just a real good guy. I think that Bill was the first fellow Rennlister that I got to meet in person - at Lime Rock Park 2 days before his very first club race.
Bill's a Marine, so you know he's tough, and he's in shape. I'm guessing he'll be running on that leg before Thanksgiving.
Bill is passionate about club racing and his enthusiasm for motorsport is contagious. He'll be back.
Get well soon Bill.

Thanks for all the kind words people. Sorry I missed the racing. Congrats all who who won and raced!
This was the first practice session maybe 5 to 8 laps out. I never put my feash tires or brakes on for the first session or turn my timer on. Just having fun nothing risky. Heading up the center of the track under the overpass between 9 entering the braking zone for 10 I was two feet off the edge of track left allowing a white 996 cup car pass me on the inside. I think we were a car length or two from the ideal turn in point but navagating turn 10 3 wide is not uncommon. The cup car stayed close to me and went 60 to 75% past my car. I have downshifted to 3rd and ready if not already back on the throttle for the turn in when the 996 abruptly came over to the "ideal" track left turn in point. When he wipped his overlapping car to the left I had two options. Let him hit me (which I think he did but my car is too bent up to tell) or drive off straight. At the time I was confident driving off straight would be a non event as I had plenty of room to stop or loop the car. Not so. Opening the wheel and quickly entering wet grass sent me for a hard frontal hit with plenty of time to think about it before. impact. I think the cup car driver does a lot of DE driving and thinks he needs the "proper" turn in point regardless of who may be occupying that place on the track.
A couple of things to learn from this. When serious impact is in your immediate future get your hands off the wheel and feet off the pedals. I could have saved Johns Hopkins a lot of titanium if I had done that.
