Default Hoosier R3S03 on fire sale right now

All:

Not sure if you know this, but Hoosier is selling all of its remaining S03 (both the R3 and the A3) right now. Prices are great, but they are going fast.

Go here: http://www.hoosiertire.com/r3s03sal.HTM to see how to get them and how much they are.

I just stocked up for the summer/fall. They definitely last longer than the S04's and at this price, you can't go wrong.

Hopefully they find more in the back of the warehouse...

Yeah, I posted the same notice in the S04 thread yesterday.

PS:

Tire Rack also bought a large supply of them. Prices are identical.

would it make sense to run 03s up front and 04s in the rear? No 03s in my back tire size.

They're completely different tires. I wouldn't do it.

Autocrossers have found that the A3S03s have better transient response, but that the A3S04s have better ultimate grip, so there's been speculation that the hot setup is A3S03s in front and A3S04s in back. I don't know of anyone who's actually tested that combination, though.

I will be testing that combo reversed sooner or later. I have always said I would not mismatch, but at $138 for a 275/40/17 this too good to pass up (they are out of 225s). I also said Hoosiers were too pricy to run just for DE, but I give them a try at least this once. So I will be running 03s on the rear and 04s on the front. Jeff at Hoosier said this would be fine for DE, but that the 04s should have a bit more traction and to allow for that in the set up. Hopefully he wasn't just trying to get rid of the 275s by saying that, but I took him at his work that this set up would work out for DEs. I have plenty left on my RA-1s, so these probably won't go on for a few months.

Forklift,
I ran the S04s front/S03s rear at TWS for the CR in March since the S04s weren't available yet in 285/18. Was a little loose so I softened the rear bar a notch & everything went fine. Not ideal but workable.
