Unless Im misremembering every session had a yellow out lap and yes we were creeping at times, they may have told the first few cars to bunch the field up so as not to catch the back of the field to soon. On top of that we had a back flag so yes a short session.

Not sure why but there was a HUGE gap behind me in that there were no cars in sight at anytime so whomever came out right behind me dropped anchor and I was about mid pack P31 on grid for Qualifying...

In PCA practices start under yellow, but qualifying is green as soon as you leave the pits. Most of the pointy end of the grid tries to go slow enough so they don’t catch the back of the pack in 1 lap. And there is typically a “gentleman’s agreement” to not pass until at least 1/2 way thru the lap, though people still do it.

We will have to have a beer to discuss the proper terminology. And then apologize for whatever.

It was excessively slow, and there should NOT be 60 cars in one group, when others have less, when there are now smaller classes that could be juggled up or down. Whoever went that slow should be spoken with. The pace car was similarly slow.

When I was in the car (after watching action prior) during the enduro, I know safety first, but the pace car was going like 20 mph. Not only bad accordions, but repeated dead stops. I have been at tracks with much more serious incidents (not minimizing those at the Glen because they sucked), but it's not safe nor good for racing or the cars overheating to go overly slow either.

Yes, I know complaining is not allowed, just do what you're told and take what's handed to you.

PS. Are all double-yellows pace car now? I would like to know the policy. I remember some or many back in the day without pace car?

My final question is whether we used to have longer qualifying, so you could pit for open track, and whether we have traded that as part of getting two extra sprints. If qualifying were longer or just the fastest lap of the day taken (if there isn't the 3rd sprint), perhaps dawdling could be avoided and actual fast laps recorded for all.

There were large concentrations of classes in the Blue and Yellow run group (SPB, SP3, SPC and GTB1) and that's what unfortunately dictates the group split. I agree that it is frustrating when the leader goes to slow, but there is no minimum speed stated in the Rule Book.

The pace car wasn't going 20 mph. Look at Race Hero/Racemonitor. Lap times during Double Yellow periods of 4:40/5:20 translate into an average speed of 44/38 mph. FYI - minimum pace car speed is 30 MPH for all classes, except for Cup Cars where it is 40MPH. The role of the pace car is to control the field so ambulances and safety staff can work an incident safely. Sometimes, it took a lot of time for the tail end of the field to catch-up, which is also frustrating.

Were you at the driver's meeting where the Stewards encouraged to address complaints and suggestions via the email address provided in the driver's notes?

That has always been the rule and it was also stated in the drivers meeting notes.

Qualifying slots were for 25 minutes, which is pretty consistent across all club races. Qualifying goes out under green flag conditions, so there should be no dawdling around because you are allowed to pass.

The only thing I'd like to see change is when the pace car lights are turned off. Lights were shut off at turn 10 and it was hard to see around the barrier in time. I'f they went off after 7 more people could see that we were going green that lap.

Otherwise... great event! Big thanks to volunteers, and I hope the new DE format was fun and worked for everyone.

Excellent point. Let's try that for next year.

Here’s the compulsory “I started at the back and drove through the field” video. Got within sight of eventual P1 in class. Had to retire for overheating after front fender fell apart. That’s racing right?

Bruce and David are knocking it out of the park sorting out the orange Enduro mess, and are being very responsive by email. While volunteering. And also trying to earn a living doing their day jobs.

I didn't hear anything back (I got affected just like the SPC guys) - will check-in and make sure they received my email!

Default WGI CR Pictures

I saw a number of photographers roaming around. Does anyone know where these pictures can be found?
