Hi Tom,
Pegasus and some of the other race vendors have them:

You can also get them from PCA Club Racing:

It looks like they might be cheaper from PCA, perhaps due to some sort of group discount.

You can often get a discount by buying them from a club that's bought their own setup. I'd suggest the hard-wired version. Put it in and forget it. The battery ones have to be in a more-easily accessible location, which ends up meaning putting it on for every event.

Mike: I'm not "racing" yet. Next year maybe. I am doing a lot of time trials and getting tired of the hassle of waiting for a transponder and paying the rental fee. I may do a couple NASA events before year end (HPDE3 and HPDE4) to get licensed and have the option of PRC next year. I really need to determine what class I would be in and get my car setup accordingly. I think I have all I need except for a seat-back brace and some 'E' stickers.
I am mostly looking toward the hard wired version since it is less hassle and cheaper.

I'll be buying from PCA club racing. It's the cheapest I've seen by far. You do not have to be a PCA club racer to get one (but I think PCA membership is required, not an issue for me).
Thanks for the help, it's appreciated.

Most [all?] of the sanctioning bodies offer transponders at a decent price - less than the commercial outlets. That said, OG Racing and others stock them as well.
Go for the hard wired version. Its a simple install, and one less thing to worry about. I'd hate to run well in a race only to discover that the transponder battery was dead!
