Default Importing Euro Model Porsches

For anyone interested in purchasing and importing those desirable/rare Euro-model Porsches such as:

* 964RS/Clubsport
* 993RS/Clubsport
* Euro GT3
* 968 Clubsport

We can provide a turnkey package including DOT/EPA certification for qualifying models. I've personally purchased and imported a 993RS for the street and 964RSCS for the track using the service and am helping other Porsche enthusiasts in the US to do the same.

Check out our website including Import FAQ's, links to EPA website, and other information at www.euro-rs.com.

Can the 993RSCS be registered for the street or track only?

Euro-

First, your link has an extra period in it and it is not working correctly. I suggest fixing that.

Second, I am not sure it is kosher to advertise here on Rennlist without being a sponsor...maybe I am wrong.

Third, put me down for a black 993RS...I must have a twenty dollar bill around here somewhere.

AZ911 - nice graphic.....looks better than my 964CS. Obviously, don't put a period at the end of the URL (thanks again).

Not sure this is advertising and certainly not interested in creating an issue. Its more of a private service that is being offered as the result of a lot of guys spending tons of cash trying to create a 993RS out of 993 3.6's, or equally, guys investing $60K in a 964RSA trying to recreate the 964RS (3.6 Euro). If guys are interested, pass it along but I have no intension of blasting emails to people or hassling Rennlist members -- its not cool and most of us are busy professionals who don't need the hassle. If guys are read this thread then it means they've self-selected themselves as interested....we're just happy to help out.

Regarding the 993RSCS it has no airbags which is the biggest stumbling block to DOT certification (it will pass EPA emissions, believe it or not). Airbags (including control unit, etc.) can be put into the car for about $5K. Its really up to the individual importing the car. The 993RS is available with optional airbags so if street use is critical, buying the 993RS is an easier option although you don't get the frame-welded Matter cage, but Heigo or other alternatives can be fitted. Its a trade-off.

Let me know if I can help and I'll be at Watkins Glen in 3 weeks racing (car #623) and then at Parade in July.

Drive safe,

Steve -
Looks like a cool service and I'm glad you're including the 968CS, although it would would be nice to see some more info on your site.

Regarding the advertising issue, I think you're all wet (just my HO). Either way, you should atleast pony up for a membership.

Already done.

The reason 968CS information is not on the website is because most guys don't know what they are, nor ask for them. Every request is 911-based stuff (968CS's get unfairly penalized in PCA Club Race classification. While they have added safety components and are lighter weight, the engine and gearbox are the same as the standard car.)

Looking forward to helping out when/where possible.

Here's a question for you:

Would it be possible to import a 968CS for street use into Canada?

That's what I really want.

I think importing into Canada is much easier than to the US. You need to ask Canadian importers for the rules.

On the contrary there are more difficult and unless the car was made for the US market it is almost impossible to get it registered in Canada. They do not have the "show and display" rule either. I imported my cars into Canada and I did my homework so to speak. The only good thing over the US is that you can import any Euro or ROW car as long as it is 15 years old and older... in the US it is 25 years old.

What would it cost to import a new 2004 GT3 RS all-in?

Give me a call on the Import questions rather than drag the other guys through the email threads. You can figure the following as a baseline:

TRANSIT
* $3,000 to ship in 20' sealed container
* Insurance (2% of the value of the car)
* $1,500 port entry fees, duty, Importer administrative paperwork

EPA - $2,000 for testing/certification
DOT - $5,000+ (depending on modifications needed)

You can email me directly at info@euro-rs.com or call at 214 693 3276.

We're working with the DOT right now to certify the 2004 GT3 (Clubsport and RS) and if the application is approved (after the $800 filing fee), then we're going to get the 1999/2000 GT3/Clubsports approved -- these are tremendously affordable and here comes the best part: C Class for PCA Club Racing! (talk about a 993RS killer!)

I've got 4 guys who have already requested a 2000 GT3 Clubsport as a combination street/club race car for C class.
