Correct. IMSA monitors the teams tire pressures and mandates a minimum for any and all cars on track.

A team engineer had their hard card from IMSA revoked and suspended indefinitely.

HPD, in reviewing the teams data, found the relatively elaborate ruse and informed IMSA of the breach of their rules. Not good for MSR.

As much as it would suck to work that hard to win the watch, if I were one of those drivers I’d be handing it off to the now winning team. I mean, how could you ever look down at it on your wrist and be proud of that achievement?

Yes, would be the right thing to do for sure, but I doubt that will ever happen. Never know, but the smart money is betting otherwise.

If the drivers didn't know, this is a huge gutshot to them too. All that work to find out that one of men and women back at the shop were ****ing you over.

In my professional life we measure to see if there was a damage caused by the rule breach. In this case it would be, if you can prove that breaking the rule/clause gave the team the win, they would be DQ'd. If it helped but they would have won anyway, you give penalties and kick people out.

Now, the art and science is in determining if it gave them the win. I don't know the specifics (lap times, tire longevity, etc) to make such determination. Perhaps that is why they were not DQ'd.

The #60 won by 4.19 sec over the #10 after 24hrs of racing. If the tire pressures were such a big deal, I would have expected the #60 to have won by a larger margin.

Or u can say if they roughly did 600 laps a less then 100th of a second lap advantage gave them the win. Doesnt take much.

That's not how a race with cautions works tho.

Average advantage over 783 laps was .0054 sec per lap, slightly worse than the accuracy of a Rolex.

Maybe the #60 car won by 4.19 seconds BECAUSE of the tire pressures. Maybe without the tire pressure subterfuge, the #60 car loses by 10 seconds. The 2nd place team should be hoppin' mad about this.

I'm with Winders. 4 sec isn't much, especially over 24 hrs. If a tire pressure advantage was worth anything at all, it surely was worth at least 4 sec over 24 hrs. It would have to be quite some argument attempting to illustrate that it wasn't worth 4 sec in 24 hrs.
