WEC builds small buildings/garages - it's a pretty incredible site seeing the small city grow up along the back straight paddock pavement. One of the most amazing things is the Michelin tent and the THOUSANDS of tires... ( I won’t do math here so I’m not called out)
And yes...you have access to EVERYTHING...

This picture doesn’t do it justice…

There really aren't any 'garages' at Sebring - all the IMSA teams use their awnings at their rigs.

I am still curious though what kind of correlation there is between the % increased area and the actual increase in HP because at a stated output of 565hp from the article below (is it possible it was stated without the restrictor?) that would still only be about a 35hp increase (565x0.0616).

Anyone know more about how this works? Is it linear or not?

I totally agree that your picture doesn't do any justice! I remember looking in that tent last year thinking, hmmm let me add this up... at (my guess) $1k per tire x 10,000 tires (also my guess) holy crap that's $10M worth of tires!

Yeah, does a 6.16% increase in size mean the engine gets 6.16% more air? And does that mean it makes 6.16% more power? I have no idea. I bet Porsche does though. I suspect it is close to being linear. The extra fuel and the extra air matters...we will soon find out how much it matters.

So a post I saw, confirmed by a mechanic who’s at Sebring now:
SEBRING Porsche BoP Update. Some Porsche teams tested this week at Sebring. They ran with a 36MM restrictor (3mm bigger than Daytona) as suggested by IMSA (supposedly the new BoP) and were still way off the pace. They tried 38mm and were still off the pace (would need 40mm to be competitive) unfortunately that is above what IMSA was proposing. Accordingly one of the Porsche Teams notified me today they are withdrawing from Sebring "dont want to pay $350,000 to drive in circles". A second Porsche Team is withdrawing from the full season and changing to Endurance rounds, but may fully withdraw from Endurance rounds as well after Sebring depending on how it goes... more Porsche teams may follow.

Makes sense, but still not good.
This is confirmed, or a maybe?

Confirmed as in “yeah I heard the same…some teams may bail.” And “ Talked to a Porsche team crew chief and he said 36MM made zero difference.”

Looking at Daytona race lap times, 992 GT3 R was 3+ seconds off the pace of 991.2 in 2022.
Whole GTD field was slower in '23 (maybe due to hotter conditions), but not by that much. AMG GT3's were still in the 1:45-1:46 range, same as '22, for example. 992 GT3 R's 1:48-1:49. That's not a race.
Don't understand how IMSA could have gotten it that wrong. What more evidence do you need to allow for major adjustments now, whatever is necessary, to bring the Porsches back into the mix? Obviously they're not hiding pace. If it's like Daytona, the 992 GT3 R's are probably missing many mph down Ullman in Sebring testing. Where everyone is flat, what's the mystery...

Imagine dropping a few mill as a privateer team to run the 992 in GTD for the season only to have BoP be this ruinous. There's a member on rennlist who did just that, can't recall the screen name right now. They have to get it sorted by Sebring.

My guess is MB paid more...or... does it seem odd that the year the Weathertech Sponsorship for the series is up for renewal that the MB has favorable BOP, the Weathertech car wins Daytona, and gets Cooper his win? Then he 'retires'... hmmm....
